Did you download your copy of Popsicle’s Rules for Being A Kid Guidebook? The Guidebook can be downloaded at www.popsiclerules.com! Every chapter has fun, family-friendly activities! From a word search to mustache cut-outs, to coloring pages!
We had a 6 hour stop at my son’s sleep away camp the other weekend. He has been 4 weeks without any electronics, from TV to video games. Nothing. And I made a conscious decision to not bring his portable electronics along for this visit as it would distract from anything else we might do with our short time together. The only thing allowed at camp is a music player so we did spend some (unsuccessful) time trying to download some music for him. We had a lot of spare time waiting for the music to download, so, luckily I had the above book with me.
As most of you know my son has a great love for art. I asked him to look thorough the guidebook and he was quickly drawn to the above coloring page. I’ll admit that I did not think that coloring would be his activity of choice, I thought the word search would have been more for his age group. I am almost always wrong, and happily so in this case.
Wrong because you see Pete the Posicle was really Peter, my spouse and my son’s other dad (you can just see at the end my son added an R). And while I am not Mandy, because my name is Mitch, I was the middle Popsicle, we both started with the letter “M!” And of course what tough guy kid isn’t an Ace with a sideways baseball cap? That was of course Paulie. My son saw this page and it reminded him of us, the happy family of 3. I took that as a sign that he had been thinking of us when he was away. True or not, it made me feel great!
I would never dare give my an artist any directions, I am always surprised when his vision rakes a different turn as you can see at the top where it says Coloring Page and he colored that in multi-colored stripes.
And don’t forget the Popsicle rules that you can study with your children! There are five fun filled chapters highlighting Popsicle’s rules for Summer!
Popsicle’s Rules For Being a Kid Guidebook is a wonderful collection of activities for kids of all ages as my son proved to me. I encourage everyone to dowload it, and even put it in a binder like I did. We all have a ton of back to school supplies already, I had an extra binder handy and it helps when you take the Guidebook while traveling. This is a great tool to keep the kids busy during the Summer, and of course make sure you have a Popsicle treat in the freezer for them when they are ready to take a break!

I love this activity binder! It’s a great way to have portable activities that AREN’T electronic. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got nothing against electronics. However, I think it’s nice for a child to take a break from them sometimes.
