I have been before. I have experienced a Disney press trip twice in the last two years. And for those who think it is glamorous, you are 100% correct, it is. Bright lights, big city, red carpets, premieres, celebrities, parties, the fun doesn’t stop for four days!
There is another part to the above. This trip will mean four days of hard work. Long hours. Intensive writing following the trip.
The summation of it all is that I get to have amazing experiences thanks to the blog world. It is great fun and the work is something that I hunger to do. I have learned from my past trips that this is a win/win for me, I get to have amazing experiences, and best of all I get to share it all with you, my loyal readers. Here is a taste of what I will be experiencing, and what you will hopefully be following along with me!
A screening of Guardians of the Galaxy! I have been a huge comic book fan forever and especially have loved the recent spate of Marvel movies. It is no secret that they are brilliantly done. I look forward to interviewing the star of the movie, Chris Pratt. And Zoe Saldana and Vin Diesel and Dave Bautista, and the President of Marvel Studios! Guardians of the Galaxy movie opens on August 1st!
I will attend an advanced screening of The Hundred Foot Journey. I have been a long time fan of Helen Mirren! And, to really get into the groove of the story, we will be taking a cooking class at the Le Cordon Bleu in LA and also interviewing the actor, Manish Dayal from the movie. I can’t believe this is the work that I do, how can you not love it! This movie opens August 8th!
Movie wise we will also see an early advance screening of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day which opens in theaters on 10/10, and preview footage from the upcoming Walt Disney Studios animated release BIG HERO 6 which opens on 11/7. These are both movies that I will be seeing again with my son, there is nothing more that I love then seeing these movies with my child!
And that is not it! We get to experience some new shows from the ABC Family Channel!
As part of my homework for this trip I have put Mystery Girls on the DVR and have now seen three episodes. It is an adorable show and on a personal level I am thrilled that it has a gay character as part of the recurring cast. I can’t wait to meet Tori and Jennie! Mystery Girls is on Wednesdays at 8:30pm/7:30c! (ABC Family).
Wow, Emily Osment is all grown up! I used to see her on Hannah Montana with my son, and let me tell you those teenage years are gone! She is all grown up and playing a personal chef. The show is based on the real life story of, yes, a food blogger! (No, I am not having any thoughts of them making a show on my blogging life!) This show also has a gay character, and executive producer Ashley Tisdale did a cameo as a gay woman. Again, it is important for my family to see that our lives are part of the main stream so I am thrilled! This show has also been added to the DVR and I find it hilarious! Young & Hungry is on Wednesdays at 8:00pm/7:00c! (ABC Family)
We will also get to meet the cast of the new show, Chasing Life! This is a more serious show, I look forward to learning and sharing more on this! Chasing Life isΒ is on Tuesdays at 9:00pm/8:00c! (ABC Family)
And there will be cocktails with the “Moms of ABC Family!” Wait to see you see those Instagrams, Tweets , and Facebook posts!
I am thrilled at the thought of getting to meet these ABC stars, and am also excited as I have never been on the actual set of a TV show. I am hoping to have many, many pictures for my future posts for you!
So please follow along on twitter using the hashtags:Β #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyEvent, #100FootJourneyEvent and #ABCFamilyEvent starting on Wednesday, July 16th, and probably continuing for several weeks/months as we will all be working on a lot of wonderful material to share with you! AND, please tweet, email, or Facebook any questions you think I should ask any of these folks!
Disclosure: Disney invited me on this press trip and is paying all of my expenses. No other compensation is being received. AllΒ opinions are always 100% my own and honest.

It is really nice to have a job where you get to write and watch movies. Yes it is hard, but it is better to have hard work that is enjoyable.
