“Tuck, Munch and Alex are a closely bonded trio of inseparable friends, but their time together is coming to an end. Convinced something bigger is going on and looking for one final adventure together, they set off to trace the messages to their source and discover something beyond their wildest imaginations: hiding in the darkness is a mysterious being, stranded on Earth, and wanted by the government. This launches the boys on an epic journey full of danger and wonder, one that will test the limits of their friendship and change all of their lives forever. This film is rated PG.”

I saw the film Tuesday evening. I thought the poster for it looked a little E.T. ish, and my spouse thought this was going to be like Wall-E. We were both wrong.

The movie is about 3 friends who’s neighborhood is being demolished to make way for a highway. But, on their last evening together, they discover something that they cannot explain and begin to have the adventure of their life. This movie is filmed in the style of the Blair Witch Project: the boys are just filming their life as this adventure unfolds, and we are along for the ride.

My son is at sleep away camp so I went with my blog wife, Linda and her daughter. Throughout the entire film, all I could think of is how much my son is going to love this movie. The heroes of this movie are children a few years older than him: he would completely relate to them. They are smart young kids and the adventure they bring us along on is great fun. The best part for me was how witty the writing was. We all enjoyed some great laughs throughout the film.

Lastly, without giving away a spoiler, the truck scene near the end of the film was done brilliantly. Of course it was foreshadowing the ending!

This is going to be the hot Summer movie, it is a must see for everyone, sort of like this generations science fiction version of the Goonies, which worked for me and the rest of the audience I saw this with!
