My son is growing up fast these days and getting him to do conventional toy reviews for the blog is not as easy as it used to be. Especially when I get this great tech toy to review in this sponsored post!  This is a toy robot in the form of a ball! How can I get him to play with toys when he has a robot to hang out with!

My son had to download an app on his iPod for this, any excuse to add more electronics time and his interest is automatically piqued!

This Sphero can drive in any direction, turn on a dime, flip in the air, change colors and more! And it is all controlled by my son’s smart device. Well, I also have a smart device so I downloaded the app on my iPhone! This is a great tech toy for Father and Son to enjoy, what a great idea as a gift for Father’s Day!

This is my son’s honest review. The opportunity to control an outside object with his iPod was fantastic to him. The challenge to get to higher levels and earn points (money) is something that he enjoys in gaming. Add to that the ability to turn the living room into a live video game through the augmented reality apps is perfect for him. As a parent there is an education and learning component so my needs are satisfied as well, anything that stimulates him to learn some programming skills can certainly earn him extra electronics time during the week, I am very strict when it comes to electronic playtime. This “tech toy” is a win-win situation for my family, and then with all that he learns he can teach us on the weekends and we can play together!

    Hahah! Mitch, you crack me up. “Me, or your other dad?” Racking up those points? 😉 My kids love their Sphero too! I think it’s great that they’re getting a knack for programming! However, they now refer to my parenting as “spaz mode.”
