Entenmann’s Bakery once again teamed up with The Salvation Army to celebrate National Donut Day, today, with a decadent celebration at Madison Square Park in New York. Started by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the “Donut Lassies” who served the round treats to soldiers during World War I, National Donut Day is annually held on the first Friday of June. This occasion is celebrated to honor the donut as a tried-and-true symbol of the services The Salvation Army continues to provide.
In celebration of the four-year partnership, Entenmann’s presented a $30,000 check to The Salvation Army as a result of Entenmann’s Facebook campaign! Entenmann’s Bakery has donated a total of $70,000 to The Salvation Army through the first three years of the partnership and hit the $100,000 mark with this year’s donation.
I took a much needed break from my Entenmann’s marshmallow iced cake, black and white mini cookies, and chocolate chip cookies to swing by this delicious event and have some donuts!
I will say it has been rough hiding this from my family, I do not share Entenmann’s! I have been honored to be a part of these festivities and watch Entenmann’s great donations the last few years, and eating free donuts next to the NYC Flatiron building is awesome!
And of course there is a celebrity picture! I thought they really were donuts and I tried to take a bite!

Never knew how National Donut Day came about until now. I didn’t realize it was such a long held tradition. I shared this article with my son, who is a donut lover as well. Thanks for the info and Happy Donut Day to all!

The Salvation Army is a great organization. I had my house burn down in the 90s. The Salvation Army came and offered me a check. Of course we turned them down because we had insurance, but it was so nice of them to offer and I know there are those that need the help.
Chelsea says
That is amazing that they’ve given so much! Also, Donut Day has to be the best thing ever.

Wow, I remember my dad picking this brand of donut up every few days, drinking coffee and reading the paper. My daughter now continues the tradition.

I haven’t seen the red velvet donuts before. YUMMY! My husband has a tradition of getting donuts with the kids every Sunday morning. Good times!
Brandi says
A donut addiction is a hard thing. All the crumbs you have to sweep under the rug so no one sees them. The febreeze you go through to hide the delicious scent of a donut from the family. Hiding in the bathroom with them, feeling like Cookie Monster. It’s horrible! I’m so glad you found the nerve to tell your family about the horrendous addiction to Entemann’s donuts.
MELISASource says
Entenmann’s donuts are the absolute best! Cannot make a trip to the store without the household begging for me to pick some up!
Charity L. says
I never want to share my Entenmann’s either! We buy the powdered sugar donuts for the weekends sometimes a a treat. So good.
