I have reviewed several products that I felt were worthy of extra mention in this Gay Father’s Day gift guide. As a gay dad, if my son had his own money to buy me a present, I would be happy with any of these items. These recommendations are not in any particular order. And they are gay because they are from me, to me! Also, I hope everyone understands that the unspoken real #1 gift choice is cash!
1. Dockers pants by Levi’s.
2. Samsung Cameras
3. New Balance sneakers.
4. Oral-B 7000 BLACK Electric Toothbrush
5. Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D
6. Uggs For Men
7. Dyson Cordless “Stick” Vacuum
8. LeSportsac bags
9. Hell Fire Pepper Jelly by Jenkins Jellies
1. Dockers Pants
My casual pants are always cargo pants because I need extra pockets, I hate to carry a bag unless I have to. With that being said, the only dressy pants I will wear are from Dockers. If you see me dressed nicely at a blog event, or whenever I am at a conference, I am wearing Dockers. And they hide my huggable, pinchable ass. My spouse requires that, especially when I am out of town, he is very, very jealous because I am so gorgeous! (But he will never know I am wearing a speedo bathing suit underneath, don’t tell him!)
2. Samsung Cameras
Those closest to me know that I have been very dissatisfied with my old cameras. I had been loyal to Canon and knew a year ago that I needed to upgrade and change brands. I had been looking at Samsung’s various offerings for awhile, I have a large credit on Amazon that I was going to use, but I did could not make a decision. Well, the decision was made this month at a Samsung event where I was able to trade in my old crappy DSLR for a brand new Samsung NX 30. It is expensive and top of the line. There are quality, less expensive choices in the NX Mini or NX 300. Meanwhile, if I was able to take a picture of that camera with that camera it would have come out better! How ironic!
Us gays love to take artful pictures. We are very creative. So much so, that that was the code word in our adoption ad! It did not say a gay couple wanted to adopt, it said a “creative” couple wanted to adopt!
3. New Balance Sneakers
I am currently wearing the 587 because I found them on sale and stocked up. The 990 is also great, but more expensive. Ever since I was told certain New Balance lines were for the larger, football type body, I have been sold. It’s all about the ego, girl! Did you hear me snap just then?
4. Oral-B 7000 BLACK
It’s black and it’s strong. We all need that around. I mean because black is a very masculine color for an electric toothbrush! I need the oscillation of this upgraded Oral-B to keep my gums cleaner than clean (and my teeth, too). A clean mouth… Watch your dirty mind!
5. Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D
I was sent this for a review 2 years ago and it is all I use. This is on my list because it is the best electric shaver I have used and will continue to use. I need my skin smooth as a baby’s bottom, I need people to snap back their heads when they see this face in the streets!
6. Uggs for Men
Uggs just sent these to me to sample. I am not obligated to write about them. My son did beg me for the robe, it is extremely soft and comfortable. It is perfect for the mornings when he lies on the couch and needs something to protect him from those early morning chills. And aren’t them men’s slippers nice?
After seeing my nieces, all of whom have Uggs along with every other girl I see, it is nice to see the line now includes more men’s items. But seriously, if all the girls have them, you know the gays are going to want to have them, and then of course, last but not least, the straight guys will follow suit! It’s just like when we gentrify an area!
7. Dyson Cordless Stick
Well, arent’t we known for a desire for cleanliness? I am a little on the fastidious side and love a clean home.”Every time a crumb falls an angel shrieks” is my gay cleanliness motto and when crumbs fall I have to go grab the cordless/wireless vacuum and suck it up. And the Dyson sucks fast and hard. Also, that purple just POPS!
8.LeSportsac
Everyone loves a good sac. My husband and I each have our own sac, his is black and a little smaller than mine which is blue and larger. Get your minds out of the gutter! We carry asthma and allergy drugs wherever we go with our son, we are good gay dads, which means we are overprotective! We love these dark LeSportsac colors as they are very masculine. We love the LeSportsac because it is strong and light. Again, having a good sac is important to us!
9. Hell Fire Pepper Jelly by Jenkins Jellies
I love it because it sounds like a gay bar that I used to go to. Also, my father used to refer to me as a Food Yuppie, I think that was his code for cutting edge gay food gourmand. All I know is, this is a cutting edge food item, and if I can’t be a cutting edge gay, then what’s the point?
In conclusion, we adopted our son at birth 11 years ago. We grew up in the 60’s and 70’s when gay was just becoming legal and accepted. It was the disco era, and no one was talking about the possibility of gay men having children. I am very grateful that American society has gotten to the point where it is allowed and accepted. Separately, my husband and I always wanted children. That was oe of the strongest pieces of cement in our relationship in the beginning.
This is as corny as it gets, but it is our truth in the deepest place in our hearts. Every single day that we wake up and there is someone to call us Dad is Father’s Day. Every day. That was and still is our dream. Everything else is just BULLSHIT!
Disclosure: Some of these items were sent to me for review over the course of the last several years, some were not. All opinions are always 100% my own and FABULOUS!
Mitch my husband would like anything on your list except the Pepper Jelly (the acid reflux would kill him) and the Vacuum ( I tend to do the vacuuming). He has a pair of slippers very much like the Uggs. I am very sure he is not Gay. LOL Love the picture with (P) where the school papers are hanging on the wall next to the framed artwork.
I’m not going to lie, this is one of the best gift guides I’ve ever seen because of how much personality you’ve put into it. I have wanted to try Uggs for years, they look so comfy!
Great suggestions and you have me cracking up!
that was kind of my favorite Father’s Day Gift Guide I have ever read! 😉
Love the UGG slippers but I a partial to UGGs
He still looks like he’s twenty-five. Amazing.
I love reading how being a father has made you and your spouse so happy. My son is gay. He has the most wonderful partner, that a mom could could ever wish for her gay son! They are talking about wedding dates now. I couldn’t be happier. I hope this means that I will have more grand babies in my future. Reading about you and your family, makes me have hope for my son future happiness. Thank you.
