I have seen the movie. That is why I posted the above picture. Angelina Jolie in all her Maleficent full winged glory is fantastic. Her regalness is amazing.
“Maleficent” explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.
The film stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville.
This story is the prequel to Sleeping Beauty, told from Maleficent’s point of view, with her truth. Just like the Wizard of Oz is told from Dorothy’s point of view, we often forget that there are two sides to every story.
Maleficent’s story is one that we have not heard before. It is hard not to include any spoilers here, but the clip below has one and is available to the public, so here you go:
The story unfolds with similar information that we received in the original Sleeping Beauty tale, but from the other side of the coin so to speak.
Angelina Jolie, a world famous actress that I had never seen before in a movie, completely owned this role and the movie. She was superb. And Elle Fanning was gorgeous and pure that even my 11 year old son remarked about her!
The movie was everything I expected and then so much more. The plot differences from the original story that we all knew make for some fantastic shockers in the movie, and all completely plausible even though the direction from the original Sleeping Beauty is evident. I cannot recommend it highly enough except to say that I am joining my son and the entire 5th grade who will be attending this movie next week. My son and I both are excited to be seeing this again!

Fabulous review and a spectacular movie! Like you, this was the first time that I watched Angelina Jolie in a movie. She is Maleficent!
I went to see it today with my children and grandchildren. We all loved it!
