I spent last week at a Pop-up photo gallery on the Lower East Side of Manhattan checking out some of the newest Nokia Windows Phones. I was able to learn about 2 of their newest offerings, and was quite taken aback because, at this gallery, I saw what the above phone had produced:
It took e a few minutes to figure out that this Pop-up photo gallery was showcasing beautiful photos taken with a phone!
“No other smartphone comes close to the 41MP sensor in the Nokia Lumia 1020. PureView technology, Optical Image Stabilization and super high-res zoom make sure that your videos and photos are the best yet.”
I wanted to write this article from the angle of how bloggers love taking pictures, especially with their phones, and how wonderful a tool this new phone is. But the truth is, everyone is taking pictures all the time, all over the place. This 41 megapixel phone is amazing in it’s picture clarity and everyone wants this enhanced picture taking capability when they are on the street when their kid does something amazing that they need to capture and only their phone is available! And with all the amazing apps available as well, I am not sure why you would need a “regular” camera! This is really a high tech camera with phone capabilities!
I also saw, and opted to try at home, the Nokia Lumia 1520: “A six-inch, 1080p full HD display with excellent outdoor readability and redesigned start screen lets you make the most of the extra space.”Β But it only has a 20 mp capability! Ha, Β this is still far more than the nearest competitor in the phone market, which I was surprised to find out. Nokia has the 2 highest mp phones in the industry.
Sometimes I go out with a camera, sometimes I go out with a tablet, and I am always out with my phone. Being able to take blog worthy photos without schlepping around larger and less convenient devices is a huge plus for me. Additionally, the reason I wanted to try this phone is that it has a 6 inch screen. It is practically a mini tablet. Well, guess who has been viewing Netflix and Hulu from a 4 inch screen while working out at the gym? Adding some size to my screen for viewing shows was my number one reason for wanting this device!
I am also thrilled with the Windows phone advancements since last year. My #1 blogging tool with my phone is Instagram. I love being able to take a picture and do a mini-blog on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, all at once. I also have a Windows 8 laptop and desktop, so synching my phone took hardly anytime.
So, as I always say, don’t believe me, see for yourself. The 2 highest megapixel cameras on a phone anywhere, and great Microsoft Windows capabilities. These high functioning multi-capable phones impressed me this year, and of course they never did answer my favorite last question, what’s next! And I even promised not to tell!
Disclosure: I am a Windows Champions Ambassador and received the Nokia Lumia 1520 for review. All opinions are always 100% honest and my own.
I have heard such amazing things about this phone. My phone is my camera so this is definitely worth it!
I have the Nokia Lumia 1520 and it’s one amazing phone! I love checking emails and sharing pics from it because the screen is so big! But I’m dying for the Lumia 1020! I’ve been saving up for it since it came out last year, but every time I get close to having enough, something comes up and I have to spend the $!
I am trying to be patient waiting for one of these to review, too, Mitch. There’s a lot of people in line and I’m not in front LOL. I got to play with the 1020 in Seattle and fell in LOVE. head over heels. The camera is phenomenal!
I just received the HTC One… I’m not one for fancy gadgets.. just need it to take quick pics and work when I need it π
I have heard that this phone takes incredible pictures. I am getting tired of my iPhone to be honest. The photo quality is not as great as everyone claims it to be. I cannot believe how far Nokia has come. I remember having my first cell phone and it was a HUGE Nokia lol
Wait. I have seen these on TV and they are SO awesome! I love the camera since that’s all I use my phone for in all honesty. Thanks for sharing!
Oh man! I thought I was content with my iPhone! After seeing this, I want one!!! π
I’ve been deeply impressed by the cameras in Windows phones and I’ve seen some of the beauties my son takes with his Windows camera. They’re phenomenal.
I’ve never had the privilege of trying out a Windows phone…now I ned to. Those shots are fabulous!
There are a lot of things that I love about Nokia! Actually, ever since mobile phones have become a trend, I think Nokia has been a great trend setter. However, as time passes by and competition got tougher, Nokia seems to be out of touch. Thankfully, Nokia is making a great comeback and I love your Nokia Lumia 1020 review. π
I’ve heard such good things about this phone! I am under contract for my iPhone for another year, but I would definitely consider getting one of these when my time is up with Verizon π
Good timing for me to see this post! I’m starting to shop around for a new phone and this one looks great. I’m eager to check it out!
I’ve heard a lot of hype about these phones. I can’t believe they take such good pictures!
I’ve been hearing amazing things about this phone! I’m an iPhone user but always love to hear what others think about different phones. A good camera is the biggest thing I look for in a new phone.
The main feature I look for in a phone is it’s camera; I am bad about forgetting my camera at home when we are heading out somewhere with the kids, or of course when I need to take pictures for a blog post! I will have to check out the other features of this one, it’s about time to replace my Galaxy SIII!
I love my iPhone so much, but I’d love this as a secondary phone?! Can I just carry it around for the camera? π
That camera makes a great phone. Those are seriously some good pictures!!
I agree, that as a blogger and a mother, I am always taking photos with my phone. Having a good quality camera on my phone was the main feature I was looking for when shopping for a new one.
That phone takes some gorgeous photos. My hubs has been wanting to try out a Windows phone, I might have to tell him about this one.
Those are some amazing images. I NEVER would have guessed they were taken with a smartphone.
I definitely take photos with my phone more than my cameras, it’s just so much easier. I really really want the Nokia 1020!!
It is absolutely amazing what phones can do now. Those pictures are beautiful.
Wow, what an awesome phone!! I really appreciate a phone with a great camera since now-a-days the camera phone gets used so much more than the regular camera!
I love a good phone with a quality camera since I take so many pictures! This looks like a keeper!
Picture taking via phone is becoming standard for everyone these days, so having a nice camera is always nice. I didn’t realize there was a 41 MP camera on the market!
Those are some great smart phone photos! Love the shadow one.
