I find these things very expensive. I have gotten some free from vendors and brands, but as I have fallen in love with this machine, I have had to increase my purchases as this is perfect hot chocolate weather for my son who can make this without me! I also love the Lipton iced tea so now have to add that to the shopping list, and lastly, always need to cut my regular brew with some K-cup hazelnut blends!
If you have a Keurig, you already know that the K-cups are a very expensive way to enjoy coffee in the comfort of your own home. maybe they are having a sale on their site? If not, here are some alternatives!
1. Bed, Bath and Beyond has the same price as everyone else for K-cups. But what the other stores do not have is the great coupons that BBB has! You can work out the math, but I always have 20% off coupons (good on large size collection of K-cups), or a $5 off of $15 purchase. This can help, plus you may be able to stack with a manufacturers coupon. They will not send BBB coupons to Manhattan residents so I collect them from my mother and mother-in-law. BBB also accepts their sister’s store coupons, Harmon and Buy, Buy Baby. Those do get sent to me!
2. Coupons.com. I am not an affiliate, hence no link, but they have a beverage tab that usually has some K-cup coupons. As you know I shop at my mother-in-laws supermarket, the prices are far cheaper than in the city. I will happily stock up on K-cups if I can match a coupon with a sale. That is my favorite way to double my savings!
3. Staples and Office Depot. They carry K-cups. They sometimes have coupons and/or sales as well. I was sitting on some extra credits from having recycled ink cartridges. This credit expires in a few months, so I loaded up on K-cups! This also worked with the $20 bonus credit I received for having purchased ink.
4. Lastly, make your own! I have seen the permanent K-cup holder where you can put in your own grounds. I have not tried this yet, I am waiting to see how my sister-in-law does this, she bought a 3 pack of these at Marshall’s! Of course it is a little more work than some of us K-cuppers want to do, but it does help the environment, and save a bunch of money!
More and more sites are also starting to list weekly K-cup deals, so try to find those! And do not go crazy like me, when I see a really good deal I buy so many that I am now storing some in the towel closet!
Disclosure: I am not compensated for this post, I am just trying to save you money again!

Hi Mitch,
I use the refillable K-cups and they are great! I highly recommend. I too am addicted to this machine…lol Before K-cups I didn’t even drink coffee!

I agree that the reusable K cups are great – we use them for brewing regular coffee & only buy flavored cops. Thanks for the tip about BB&B – I will make a stop there this week.
Don’t forget store brands – we have tried Wegmans brand & they are just as good as name brands.

We use our refillable one all the time! Love it for coffee but I still buy tea and hot cocoa when I see a deal

I never buy tea or cocoa Kcups – tea bags or single use packets for the sweetened tea and cocoa are so much less expensive and just as convenient.
The first hot cocoa kcups that came out gummed up our machine. Keurig customer service immediately asked if I’d used hot cocoa in the machine and they suggested ‘not’ doing that in the future.

I use a disposable cup from a company called Simple Cups that are $15 for 50 of them. They come with a filter, and a lid that snaps on. A pound of coffee fills about 100 cups, and they work just as well as K-cups you buy, but at a fraction of the cost.

I also have not tried the refillable but am looking into it. Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons are great because if you have 20% off coupons, they let you use one for each item you buy. They also take expired coupons so don’t throw out your coupons if the date is no longer good.

Shop-rite.com has a really good deal but you have to buy a case-I have done that in the past for my husband!

We use a permanent K-cup holder most of the time, and we do a lot of shopping around. Matching sales to coupons. We’re actually planning to ditch the maker and go back to a full size brewer because of the cost and the waste. I’m just not feeling good about it.

Some years back with our first Kcup experience, I’m thinking Green Mtn Kcups ruled. The coffee quality was fantastic. Now it seems to have slid to so-so and while convenient no longer gives a premium coffee experience. Not sure if they reduced the strength a bit in standard Kcups to enhance the Vue cup experience or if they just cut costs. I strongly recommend refillable kcups (check your discount stores like Buddy’s Small Lots or displays of the As Seen on TV packages where you get 4 containers for $5 – 10.
Small cans/bags of brand name coffee go on sale for far less than what Kcups go on sale for. When I figured out how many kcups I could get via refillables, I was amazed at the savings. Clearly there are times when the convenience is worth it – but we have 3 coffee drinkers in the house and we tend to prefer the same unflavored med to dark roast blends.

Love this post! I never thought of the Bed, Bath & Beyond tip, I’m heading over there next weekend to stock up! I get these coupons all the time, but never use them!

Thanks for the tip about Staples. I hadn’t thought about trading in my ink cartridges credit for K-Cups.

We made the break from K-cups to the refillable cups several months ago, and noticed the immediate savings on groceries. Besides BB&B, I have treated myself to K-cups at Khol’s when I get Khol’s cash for my shopping; usually I’ve bought more than I intended to begin with and the Khol’s cash expires within a week or so of being issued; so I’ll go by during the cash period and grab the large multi-pack just to have some variety on hand.

I am a coffee snob! I prefer to grind my own beans so the reusable K-cups are my preference. I wish I could find one that was easier to clean. I need to check out what’s on the market now. Haven’t bought one in a while and just threw my last one away. Thanks for the money saving tips.

I use both k-cups and the reusable My K-cup holders too. We drink a lot of coffee and the reusable have to be washed often. I bought a couple of ” Munchkin Deluxe Dishwasher Baskets ” on Amazon for $4. each. The reusable pieces fit perfectly in them 🙂

My in-laws use the reusable cup and swear by it. I haven’t tried it yet.
Gevalia cups have been on sale for $6.99 w/a $1 off coupon in front of them in the store, so we’ve been using those lately. Eight O’Clock often has good prices too.
My favorite kind…rarely goes on sale (dang.it!).
