This may seem like common sense to some of you, but a few years ago I discovered that the coupon booklets left in hotel lobbies do not say “For Tourists Only.”
If I ever need to see a show or go to a museum, or even visit a tourist spot in New York City, I swing by the nearest hotel or public tourist kiosk and check beforehand to see if there are any discounts available.
Or I just google or bing whatever it is I want to do. I hate to pay full price, it is just not in my blood. That is how we went to the Intrepid for the day 2 years ago. I wasn’t smart enough to do a blog review trade for admission back then so I paid for our family if 3 to get on board. That one I googled, but there are always discounts listed in the various brochures around town.
That’s right, I first discovered this when I was attending an event in New York City for a brand. It was at a hotel and I grabbed a brochure as I headed up the elevator. I later discovered coupons for the Times Square ToysRUs (I always have a $5 off of $25 coupon at that location if anyone ever needs!). You know I swing by and make sure I have those ones every month! In addition to hotels there are tourist kiosks all over NYC, I prefer the ones behind Macy’s on Herald Square!
So remember, it’s fun to be a tourist in your own home city and save money!

I love this idea! It is so simple yet something I am sure a lot of people over look ( I know I would have never thought of this)! Brilliant!

This is a great idea! I try not to go shopping without at least searching online for a coupon, so it makes sense to check out local attractions that way too. Thanks for the tip!

Going to try your tip when we go on vacation.

I have to confess we do this all the time! My husband is a bit on the cheaper side and he has taught me well.

I love being a tourist in my own town. We still find new things to do.

Good info to know where these are all located! My stepdaughter Ashley is going to NYC next week for a week-long pre-graduation gift from her Papaw and I’ll have to tell her to keep her eyes out for the booklets.

If you are a fashion freak, you might be aware of the fact that branded cosmetic products are priced really high. You can grab the pur minerals coupon to get expensive fragrances, skin care products etc. within your budget. You just need to provide the code at the time of payment and save your earnings.
