Season 16 of the Simpsons just came out this week. America’s first family, the longest running show on TV. A show that started as a filler in the Tracey Ullman show almost 2 decades ago, when the Fox Network launched. And I was there!
And here we are 16 years later. Did you know Marge Simpson is voiced by Julie Kavner? I met her when she first appeared on the Rhoda Show, which was an off shoot of the Mary Tyler Moore Show!! Julie Kavner played Brenda, Rhoda’s sister.
Julie Kavner was an actress on the Tracey Ullman show, as was Dan Castellaneta. Now they are Mr. and Mrs. Homer Simpson! The little show that could, an animated short that after 3 years became a 30 minute long prime time show.
The Simpsons is the longest-running American prime time television series. The first show to land in the top 30 for the Fox network. A show about America’s favorite dysfunctional family. Seems like a lot of people relate to this family!
Season 16 ran during the 2004-2005 TV season.
Some award highlights from Season 16 include:
1. A nomination for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Music Composition.
2. Won a Writers Guild of America Award for animation.
3. A second nomination from the Writers Guild of America Award for animation.
4. Several nominations for the Best Television Episodic Comedy Environmental Media Award.
5. A Prime time Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program.
This 16th season 3 disc set contains all 21 episodes. What I especially love are the deleted scenes and the bonus episodes, that is why I love to own the set!
Disclosure: We received this Blu-ray for review. All opinions are 100% honest and our own.
Wow, it’s crazy that they’ve been around for 16 seasons. It’s crazy to go back and watch the early episodes that I remember watching way back then .
I can’t believe the Simpsons is 16 years old. Not going to lie that makes me feel a little old.
It is cool to see all of the awards they have rcvd.
