I snuck out during the day to check out the set up for my 2nd red carpet walk – I wanted to make sure everything was to my specifications! Ha! I am lucky they let me walk there. Did I mention the El Capitan is my favorite theatre anywhere?
Yes, I got this close to Chris Hemsworth! I was doing my red carpet walk and noticed a commotion. Thor himself was signing autographs for the fans. On his busy night. That says it all, that to me is a super star, one who never forgets where they came from, someone who appreciates the fans. He was not part of our interviews so I was thrilled to be this close before the security guards chased me further down the carpet!
Here I am posing with the bad guy in the film, Christopher Eccleston playing the Ruler of the Dark Elves, Malekith. I know him from the Doctor Who world (one of my favorite TV series), he was the 9th Doctor.
And the best picture of the night, the full cast! Thanks to Marvel for this amazing photo.
“Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. To defeat an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor sets upon his most dangerous and personal journey yet, forced into an alliance with the treacherous Loki to save not only his people and those he loves…but our universe itself.
The movie opens tonight. As part of my assignment, before I left for LA, I had to see the first movie in the series, Thor. When the original came out my son was younger and we were only seeing animated films. Now that he is 10 1/2, he joined us and we all loved the original film. I can’t wait to take them to see Thor: The Dark World, it was a huge 3D spectacular film.
The story is set up by showing us how Malekith lost a huge war with Asgard many centuries earlier. King Odin thought the ruler of the Dark Elves long dead, but alas the coming alignment of the nine realms opened a portal where Jane Foster came into contact with the Aether, a deadly force from before known time had begun. The finding of the Aether awakened Malekith and the recent peace that Asgard was enjoying soon came to an end. The special effects in 3D are incredible, Malekith’s invisible war ship moves in on Asgard and much is destroyed.
At this point in the film, Loki is sitting in his prison cell and watching the craziness outside. He does not show much emotion until a certain someone’s demise – I will not put that spoiler in here! This is the set-up for Thor and Loki to work together to vanquish this ancient enemy and of course you will have to watch the movie for yourself to see what happens!
And do not, under any circumstances, leave the theatre until the last credit rolls. DO NOT. Just trust me here. Not one, but two future spoilers, and one uncredited actor can be found. Everyone in the balcony heard me gasp. That is all I am allowed to say.
This is another Marvel blockbuster. I am so thrilled to have been able to participate by interviewing the actors in the movie, walking the red carpet, and seeing the American premiere. I especially love how all the current Marvel movies tie in together. Last year’s Avengers movie is mentioned when Natalie Portman’s character mentions that she knew Thor was in NY the year before. And Loki’s imprisonment is known to be the result of his part in what happened in that same movie.
The movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, p.g.a., from a story by Don Payne and Robert Rodat and screenplay by Christopher L. Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery “ #83 in August, 1962
And here is the picture that helped me to check off one item from my bucket list. This is Karen Gillan. She is in next year’s Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy. To me she will always be Amy Pond, companion to the 11th Doctor Who. One of my all time favorite TV series, this was my first opportunity to meet someone form the Who Universe. I had seen her on the list to be at the Premiere and the entire crew of bloggers knew I was on the lookout for her. I think you can tell by the look on my face how happy I was.

And another picture from the Marvel photographer, King Odin himself, Anthony Hopkins, with Stan Lee!

Also I LOVED the Stan Lee cameo in the film – too funny. I think he does cameos in most of the Marvel films, right?
And I wasn’t aware there were two after-credit scenes, just one, so I missed the 2nd one. 🙁
