The beautiful Jaimie Alexander stopped by for a chat with the bloggers before her red carpet walk into the Premiere of Thor: The Dark World.
She apologized for wearing the ugly jacket she has on above. “Just for the record, this is fake. But I am trying to discreetly cover my — my gown until the carpet. Mainly because parts of it are open, and it’s a little uncomfortable. Not used to wearing a catsuit, okay. How are you guys? Do I look like a green Wookie? I do a little bit. You guys look amazing, by the way. I love, like, all of the blues and the greens and the reds. Silver. I can appreciate that. I’m wearing black myself. Black and a little bit of netting here.”
She was looking at us and our outfits? Her candor was refreshing and as someone who’s secret vice is watching Fashion Police with Joan Rivers, I had to admit I was very interested in this dress that she could not reveal to us, mere hours before the red carpet! We did then see this awhile later:
Wow! And knowing she had this happening in a couple f hours, she still sat down and hung out with us. Again, the generosity of these actors, before their huge American Premiere, to spend time with the parent bloggers, was just awesome.
We jumped right in and asked about the possibility of a romantic relationship with Thor. I noticed nothing in the first movie, but there was definitely some feelings on Sif’s face during this movie that showed where her heart’s leanings were. Thor’s mind was of course elsewhere. We were all curious where this might lead down the road, but we will all have to wait and see.
You can see above I was taking notes at a furious rate, hanging on her every word!
Jaimie shared how she had to train with a dialect coach to get down the British (Asgardian I mean) accent. She said there was also some massive body training. You can see that in her red carpet dress shot!
In this movie Sif is more vulnerable, has more longing for Thor. “I like that she’s selfless, and, actually, in a way that’s one of her greatest strengths, but it’s also her downfall. She really puts everyone else first, and also she’s not afraid to give her opinion. She does it respectfully, but she definitely stands up for what she believes in. So, I can appreciate that, and I try to adopt that in my own life as much as I can. Without scaring people. I don’t carry a weapon. Not that anyone can see anyway. ” Sif puts her feelings aside and concentrate son her main job, protecting Asgard. You have to respect that in a warrior!
One of Jaimie’s accomplishment’s is her ability to be a role model for young women. “I have tattoos. I grew up with four brothers. I was a high school wrestler. I did all of these things that aren’t typical of a young woman. So, for me, I like to embrace that side of my personality and let my, I guess my uniqueness, show, and I try to say to young women, “Don’t be afraid of yourself.” “Work what your momma gave you, and appreciate it, because everybody is different, and nobody is a duplicate of someone else, so no one can actually be you, so you have that above everyone else.” And I try to incorporate that in Lady Sif, where her costume is — she’s covered. She’s not revealing anything. Yet, she’s feminine. But she’s also tough, so you really see her personality before you see her physicality, and that’s most important. Good thing I got that memorized before I got in here. Teasing, teasing!” She was so funny with us!
She really was sitting around, making us laugh. Again, right before her big moment. I cannot convey to you, my readers, how generous these actors were to us over the course of the 2 days when we were interviewing everyone. It was pretty incredible, especially considering their schedules, their commitments, and the repetitiveness of the mainstream media! That’s why I enjoy this, we as parent bloggers and interviewers tend to ask different types of questions than the mainstream media. After all, we are then bringing the information to you, we want to share something different than you can read in the daily newspaper. And these stars are happy to oblige and talk to us in a more open and relaxed way.
Jaimie shared that her role models growing up were Wonder Woman from the comic book world, and Sigourney Weaver from the real world. “Actually, Walt Simonson, who, had a great deal to do with my character back in the Seventies saw Sigourney Weaver walking down a street in a red trench coat in the 1970s, and said, “That’s gonna be Sif.” So, I’m — actually my character is modeled after Sigourney Weaver, so, to me, that’s come full circle.” Even more awesomeness!
Jaimie said she did a lot of her own stunt work: “for the jumps, the fighting, the weapons, I — I do most of my own. There are some things that Sif does that are just completely impossible for any human being to do, and that’s when the CGI comes in, but it’s rare.”
We had to ask how her brothers were handling her Hollywood fame. During the first movie they asked her to give their phone numbers to Natalie Portman, that was pretty funny. She didn’t. She did say that her younger brother snuck some DVD’s into her luggage before her movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger and she did get those signed for him. She’s fairly certain she is the favorite sibling now!
Jaimie charmed the heck out of me. She was very forthcoming, joked with us, and did not hold back. She completely put herself out there and was very natural. Possibly one of my favorite interviews (actually they all were!).

I don’t know how I keep ending up standing next to the movie stars! And it is time I acknowledge the 24 gorgeous blogger friends with me!
She was pretty much awesome, right?! I too was impressed by her candor, esp when it comes to body images. Sure she is gorgeous, but she doesn’t fit Hollywood standards, and she could have let that stop her. But she didn’t, and I love that she shares that with the world.
She was great, and very candid with us! I like all the strong women in Thor, but Sif is my favorite.
Wow – that’s quite the gown she wore! LOL Lady Sif is one of my fave characters in Thor. I’d love to see her take an even bigger role in the movies!
I really liked Sif in Thor and wish she was in more scenes. Maybe next time? (After I saw the last seen following the credits, it made me wonder.) I can totally see a love triangle forming…
oops did I really spell scene “seen” in my comment? sorry I just had to put on the record I can spell.
Love, Love, Love this article! It is so refreshing to read that an actress is real, down to earth and can kick ass at the same time.

I love Sif! I wish she would get more screen time, or even a movie of her own!
She sounds so awesome and down to earth! Love that she acknowledged everyone in the room by checking out your outfits! It shows that she’s connecting and not just there for the publicity.
What a great opportunity you had! It is so refreshing when an actor/actress is so down to earth.
Was so much fun, love the post… It was so nice to meet you, and I have to say Sif Rocks!
