Abuse. Widespread abuse of a program designed to make Disney Parks as accessible to people with disabilities as it is for everyone. In fact, more accessible. That is why there has become widespread abuse. And what a shame that is, how greedy it had become, that folks who didn’t want to stand on line would hire other folks with disabilities to get the into the attractions quicker.
Those are the folks that caused this policy to change. You have read of these abuses in all the newspapers across the country, and across the world. Disney Parks operates internationally and their policies are changing over all Disney Parks, here and overseas.
Disney’s new policy will try to end that abuse, or at least lessen it, and at the same time make park and ride accessibility for guests with disabilities still navigatable. And rest assured Disney Parks did not change this policy without first doing extensive consulting with disability and autism groups. Because that is how Disney does it, they are thorough and inclusive.
Disney’s commitment to providing an inclusive and welcoming experience will likely never change, but the way this is instituted has to.
For the regulars there will most definitely be a period of adjustment, but loyal Disney fans will quickly see that Disney parks works hard to protect all of its guests!

That is terrible. I would say it surprises me that people would do that, but unfortunately, there’s not much that people do that surprises me anymore. How sad.

It was crazy how people really misused the system. I know Disney works to give every guest the best experience possible so the move to the new policy will definitely be for the better!

I have never been nor know much about the policies or heard anything from it.

sounds like it will really be an improvement

Hopefully the system will become improved for those that need it and not those that abuse the system.

Agreed! Its unfortunate that there are people out there who abuse and try to take advantage of policies meant to better experiences for others who actually do need it. I’m glad Disney is making this change!

So sad. I can’t believe people actually go to those extremes and abuse policies like that. Just sick. Good on Disney for trying to do something about this.

I’ve never been to any of the disney parks but it’s really sad that peopel would abuse the policy like that.

This is just sad. My son has autism and when we went to Disney we didn’t even take advantage of this because I felt that there were others that needed it worse than we did. Even though during this trip my husband had to visit the ER and it was hot as I don’t know what there.
