I am a firm believer in loyalty programs that reward shoppers that frequent the same store chain and am happy to share this Office Depot information on their program as part of a sponsored post series. I have written before that I also see how I end up spending more at these same stores, so their little plot to get my money is certainly working! But the truth is, I end up saving a lot more money than I otherwise would, and my shopping is then also done at a few stores instead of many. That is time saving for me.
The last time I worked on a campaign for Office Depot, I immediately signed up for their rewards program. I love getting “extras” from a store that I frequent.
Some of the great benefits of this program include:
-Points-based system with $1=10 points (I always prefer to see 1000 points vs. 100 points!).
-Ability to redeem your rewards monthly instead of quarterly (increases your opportunities to use rewards!).
-Receive points for recycling ( I save every used ink cartridge and wait for recycling bonuses!)
-Receive exclusive member promotions (this is where they get me every time, these added benfits bring me into the store more often).
-Benefits can be personalized according to consumer preferences (I have not seen this feature at the competitor’s store).
-Program broken down into several different categories such as: loyal customers, Star Teachers, and local business (I have written before about the added benefit of helping my school, which is constantly subjected to budget cuts!). You can select up to 2 categories, and you will receive promotions that are customized to the products that are relevant to your segments.
-Members become choice members once spending 2,000 points in a quarter and can then chose five categories (writing instruments, desks, classroom decorations, etc.) to receive points on the following quarter. Again, that’s where I can’t resist an extra bonus!

I absolutely love rewards systems at my favorite stores. It’s like getting a prize for spending so much! It looks like Office Depot has a great system for their patrons.
Now I feel silly because I always decline this when they ask me. I’m totally signing up.
It’s so great to earn rewards when you’re buying things you already need.
I like their reward program, I use to say no when asked to sign up until one day I decided I would try it and I’m glad I did.

Back when my kids were younger and needed school supplies and I ran a home business, I was shopping there all the times. I made great use out of these rewards programs. To me, why not use a rewards program from any store that I shop in regularly?
