My 1st weigh in here was at 250.4
5 successful weeks later my weigh in was the above, 232.2. I will admit my first weigh in I was wearing sneakers and I no longer wear them when I get weighed. I do want to make sure I am showing some progress! But 18.2 pounds is more than sneakers.
I am especially proud of myself because I made it through 4 days of being out of town at Blogher13 and still managing to lose weight at last weeks weigh in which contributed to this total loss. I was actually so busy and constantly on the go that I did not have time to eat! The one long, sit down meal also happened to be at a presentation of Lean Cuisine (separate post coming for them, they are under the same Nestle umbrella as Jenny!), so I was set up for success. That felt really good.
And there are some tricks I learned along the way. Sunday dinner at the in-laws is a huge eating fest. I do my food shopping while they have the first course which is pasta, bread, sausage, and eggplant parmigiana. I know better than to even attempt portion control during that food orgy! The second part of dinner is served a little later and consists of meats, vegetables, and salad. I can control myself there and fill up on salad and veggies. If I am feeling really strong I keep a frozen Jenny meal in the in-laws freezer. I do feel that it is important to feel you are not 100% constricted to the Jenny food all the time.
Portion control, eating every 2 hours, and accountability. That is the program boiled down to a nutshell for me. We forget that we don’t have to eat until we are ready to pop at every meal! I love that I now know that eating every 2 hours or so keeps my metabolism working strong and burning calories, starvation doesn’t accomplish that goal! And knowing that I am being weighed in on Monday, and have to talk to a consultant, keeps me from binge eating at the in-laws on Sunday. This knowledge makes up my arsenal of tools to help me in my weight loss journey, and is guiding me towards a healthy lifestyle change.
It is 1 day at a time, and even 1 meal at a time. If you slip up and eat too much, you have not failed. You can start all over again at the next meal. Just do not give up.
Disclosure: I am receiving a free month of Jenny Craig food and services for participating in an event earlier this year, I am not required to write this post. As always, all opinions are 100% honest and my own.

You are looking great and you really seem to have learned about good nutrition and advice for the long term, not about quick weight loss. It is important to eat often so you never get so ravenous that you want to eat everything in sight.

Way to Go Mitch! I have started making up little bags of raw baby carrots to eat at work or home when I feel hungry. I haven’t lost much yet but I feel better than when I snack on junk.

That is so fantastic that you’re doing so well. I’ve never tried the eat every 2 hours thing, but I’m so glad it’s keeping your energy up and helping you get through the day! Smart to skip that first course, by the way!
