June is LGBT PRIDE MONTH. In anticipation of the many upcoming city celebrations, I am sharing the Pride Guide of movies and TV shows available now to watch instantly on NETFLIX! Is instantly quick enough!
NETFLIX PRIDE GUIDE
Adam & Steve (2005)
Another Gay Movie
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Camp (2003)
Far from Heaven (2002)
Gayby (2012)
Keep the Lights On (2012)
Kissing Jessica Stein (2001)
North Sea Texas (2011)
Queer as Folk (1999) (UK)
The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green (2006)
The L Word
Tomboy (2011)
We Were Here (2011)
Weekend (2011)
Were the World Mine (2008)
I have seen only a few of the offerings on this list, I see it is time to catch up! I never saw the L Word, but I suspect I would be instantly hooked! I did see the UK version of Queer as Folk, I was so entranced that I think I saw the entire series one weekend when my boys were at the in-laws, I always prefer the British versions to the US versions of everything!
BEST GAY TV CHARACTERS
Brothers & Sisters – Scotty & Kevin
Dawson’s Creek – Jack McPhee
Desperate Housewives – Andrew Van de Kamp
Glee – Kurt & Blaine
Greek – Calvin Owens
Noah’s Arc – Noah Nicholson & Wade Robinson
Skins: Season 1 & 2 – Maxxie Oliver
Ugly Betty – Marc St. James & Justin Suarez
Torchwood – Jack Harkness & Ianto
United States of Tara – Marshall Gregson
Most of these shows I have seen, but perhaps you haven’t. For all the Dr. Who fans, Torchwood is a spin-off and Captain Jack Harkness is one handsome guy, did you know he was up for the part of Will in Will & Grace way back when? I tweeted him and he wrote back, I am trying for that celeb shot!
And if you did not catch the United States of Tara, starring the amazing Toni Collette (Muriel’s Wedding!), on Showtime, catch it here! Her son is gay on the show and it is important for my family to see TV where acceptance of gay characters is handled so matter of factly. After all, that is how I want my son to see gay people in his life, treated the same as everyone else.
I am thrilled that Netflix approached me to share this information with you during Gay Pride Month, it is a time that my family gets to celebrate, and in NYC the parade is not to be missed, everyone comes out!
Disclosure: I am receiving 6 months of Netflix in exchange for this post. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.
