My family and I had the great pleasure of flying to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida to preview Despicable Me 2, the 2nd movie in the franchise, which is premiering on July 3 nationwide.
It will be difficult to give an unbiased review of this movie as we were hanging out with Minions all weekend. Minion Tim is my son’s favorite:
Cause Minion Dave did not seem as relaxed:
Before I go on, I want to give you our Despicable Me back story. My spouse and son stay at the in-laws once a month, and during one of those visits they went to the movies without me, the first time they ever did that, and the last! They saw Despicable Me. I was so upset that I did not get to join them as I am a huge Steve Carell fan and knew that movie would be hilarious. As soon as the DVD was released a few months later I bought it, and I bought it for me! We have seen that DVD more times than I can count. Going to this 2nd movie 1 month before it is being released has now made up for the fact that they saw the first one without me.
This as of yet unreleased movie, Despicable Me 2, was great. There will be a full review closer to the July 3rd release date, but for now I will just state that Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig voiced 2 of the main characters. Can you imagine the hilarity of having those 2 go up against each other?
Back to Gru and the girls, we were thrilled to be with them on our Despicable Me 2 Orlando Adventure, after all, we felt like we knew them intimately!
Yes, we met all the characters from the movie! In fact, they hosted a dinner for us. It was a lovely dinner with music in the background, and this:
Yes, there is nothing funnier than watching the Minions dance the Cha Cha slide. Unless, you click here to see them dancing Gangnam style! I never laughed so hard in my life, you might if you stay tuned and watch my Vine dance with Minion Dave, but you have to wait until next week!
Breakfast the next morning was uneventful, until that super villain, Vector, from the original Despicable Me, showed up!
Luckily Vector did not frighten the Minions away so they were able to serve us breakfast:
With full bellies we headed into the park with our new friends and had a blast:
Finally, we returned to the hospitality suite only to find Minion Dave all upset watching the first Despicable Me movie, I think he forgot that it has a happy ending!
There is one last item I must share with you. The Minions also have a soundtrack from this movie. The Minions singing is so good (and by good I mean hysterical) that it as the first item I requested after we viewed the movie. You cannot imagine how funny it is to hear the Minions singing “YMCA” in their Minion language. From Cee Lo Green to Pharrell Williams, to the Minions, the talent is overwhelming!
We can’t wait for the next installment!

I’m jealous because I absolutely love this movie. I am probably more excited than the kids to see it! I love it when film makers take into account that there are actually parents watching thesee movies with the kids and keep the story lines interesting enough that we’re not bored to death!
