It’s not much, but it is our 4th year of perfect punctuality! Some days we practically ran to school, but no late pass in 4 years!
I think NYC goes later than any other school district in the country. We finished school today at 12 noon, thanks to the teachers union. They did not want to come back before Labor Day so we have the latest school year in the USA. Meanwhile, camps across the tri-state area have already started and several of our friends flew the coop early to attend. Not us, camp starts bright and early tomorrow.
And we worked hard this year. My son got his best report card ever. Even my spouse knew how hard I worked behind the scenes and said something to me, and I never get kudos from him (by behind the scene lets just say several school meetings and a bit of yelling at homework time!). Reading and writing levels were higher than ever, and social studies was all above average! I was so proud I rewarded him with Xbox points. You know that got me a hug!
And special thanks go to the Warriors book series by Erin Hunter. That series so interested my son that he has read 1 dozen of those books and it put his reading level at above grade level. You have no idea what a miracle this year has been!
Congrats son, your dads are thrilled and excited for your success!
Mitch Mazel tov to the kiddo on finishing this wild and crazy year. He worked his rear off and I know you and your husband did as well. Was this year always supposed to go to June 26, or did it change because of so many days off with Hurricane Sandy? Seems a little late since we finished up last Friday and did not use as many weather days. Enjoy the summer and hoping that fifth grade is a fantastic year.
Congrats- on the punctuality, as well as the great report card! I’m still waiting for my daughter’s in the mail; I checked her grades online, though, so I know she has that extra large frozen yogurt -with whatever toppings she wants- headed her way! I’ll have to check out that book series. It’s amazing when a book sparks their interest in reading…
No tardies at all? That’s a major accomplishment, congratulations! Congrats on the wonderful grades as well, I know you’re very proud of your son. He’s lucky to have such a devoted parent!
Getting anywhere is tough-so you have every right to be proud-I was glad my children even got to school-we have a train line that runs straight through our town-I can not tell you how many times we waited for the train-My self and probably 40 other families-I can laugh now but starting your day planning to beat the train was not the best way to a happy day! Enjoy your days of summer vacation-it goes so fast.
Way to go on Punctuality! I hope you all enjoy your summer! Schools near me have been out for a few weeks now.
LOL, awesome punctuality! Awww, look at his proud dad posting it on his blog. Enjoy your summer!
No tardies is an excellent accomplishment. I can’t even say that for myself and I’m my own boss – lol. Great job kiddo and keep up the good work!!
That’s impressive. We didn’t get one. LOL. Congrats to your son!
so exited for my “son” but seriously I know how hard he works and happy the year ended so well And I have to credit to his dad who does so much to support him.
thats such a great accomplishment 🙂 man how our children grow up so fast!
That’s seriously quite the feat you all pulled off!! Not even 1 tardy!!! WOOT!! You’re a great dad… he’s a lucky boy and vice versa!! 🙂
Okay, how do you get him out of bed? I have two teenage girls and it’s like I am trying to wake the dead in the morning. I get them to school on time but they ruin the whole “no tardies” thing by yapping with their friends in the hallways and missing the bell. Oh, and the other oldie but goodie “I was doing my hair in the bathroom and forgot the time.” LOL! That is a major accomplishment and many kudos to you both!!
Also, I understand completely about finding a series to interest them. My youngest hates ( really, really hates) to read but I got her started on The Gallagher Girls series and she couldn’t put them down. It was so great to see her reading, so I understand how much of a relief that can feel like. Isn’t it amazing to see how much their reading level goes up when they actually read?
You are a great Dad and your son is very lucky!
Congrats on the achievement – to both of you.
Our schools start the day after Labor Day and we ended on June 12. It’s interesting how everyone’s schedule is different.
Wow perfect attendance, that is definitely an accomplishment.
