“EPIC is a 3D CG adventure comedy that reveals a fantastical world unlike any other. From the creators of Ice Age and Rio, EPIC tells the story of an ongoing battle between the forces of good, who keep the natural world alive, and the forces of evil, known as the Boggans, who wish to destroy it. When a teenage girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she teams up with an elite band of warriors known as the Leafmen, and a crew of comical, larger-than-life figures, to save their world – and ours.”
We arrived early at the Ziegfeld Theatre and were able to walk the red carpet, paparazzi snapping away!:
I became one of them after we got our seats, here is my collection of pictures that I posted Tuesday, this is the best group shot I could get:
My family enjoyed the movie very much, I would definitely want to own this on DVD, I could easily enjoy this a few more times, it was that funny!
And after what was a hugely successful premiere, the bloggers were ushered to the Mandarin Hotel so that we could sit and chat with the talent from the movie. Sitting a few feet from Colin Farrell and Amanda Seyfried was very exciting, I have been a fan of both for awhile! Their openness friendliness, and humility will keep me as a fan, they were very down to earth. It was like we were all hanging out and chatting about their work in the movie like old friends (yeah, I wish!).
The most remarkable thing about chatting with actors who do voice work in animated movies is that they almost never see each other, they rarely interact, and sometimes only meet for the first time at a premiere. I asked how it was to act without a person opposite them, how far do they have to stretch their imagination to pull this off. They said it was actually not that difficult, that they just let their creative juices flow. Colin mentioned how much fun it was to act opposite the Director, Chris Wedge, who would portray any character necessary to help Colin get the feel of the scene. That must have been a riot. I do have to say, Colin Farrell made a great General Ronin, you will see for yourself I am sure!
And Amanda Seyfriend was so sweet! You could see her as her character M. K. (Mary Katherine)! She was chatty and we all talked about the idea of conservation, that is the clear background of the movie; a message that is not thrown at you, but rather quite subtle, keep the planet green! We all agreed any step in that direction is much needed.
My favorite question that one of the bloggers asked all of the actors was, what would you do if you were shrunk down to 2 inches, like in the movie. Amanda kept it sweet and said she would want to ride her dog, equestrian style. I thought that was adorable! She also did her scenes with Director Chris Wedge filling in as all the other characters that she was supposed to be acting opposite, she seemed also to think that was a great experience and a great way for the Director to get the most out of them.
It was also great to chat with Director Chris Wedge: “Having brought to life one of the most beloved and successful animated motion picture franchises, Ice Age, director Chris Wedge and his teams at Blue Sky Studios (of which Wedge is a co-founder) achieve new heights of realism, action, adventure and detail, with EPIC.”
He was still overcome with excitement when he sat with us, right after the premiere of this terrific movie, he was glowing from the rave response of the audience! He shared how much he enjoyed showing a story dealing with the forest and how the forces represented in the movie also represent the real forces of nature, the decay and also the new buds on the plants. Realism in a movie is always appreciated. We are fans of all that he has done, I think you will see why in his latest animated movie, this is a terrific family film to see this weekend, EPIC opens tomorrow!
EPIC features an incredible cast including: Beyonce Knowles, Colin Farrell Amanda Seyfried, Aziz Ansari, Pitbull, Steven Tyler, Josh Hutcherson, Chris O’Dowd, Christoph Waltz and Jason Sudelkis.

I know my kids will love it and can’t wait to get to see it. That is awesome that you got to do the premiere!
Now I’m even more excited to see it! I like the trailers I’ve watched so far, and the story just seems so magical!
The graphics and images I’ve seen so far are just beautiful!!
I always loved movies that involve either shrinking or “blowing up” into huge size. I think they just kind of sparked my imagination as a kid. This looks really neat!
I love that he had his arm around both of us.. LeSigh.
I’ve been a fan of Amanda Seyfried’s since she acted on ABC-TV’s classic daytime drama, “all My Children”. I wonder if she’ll do a special guest appearance now that the show has moved online.
