As a user of the Lenovo Yoga IdeaPad with Microsoft Windows 8 since early this year, I couldn’t wait to try it out on vacation. As a top US blogger, I do not feel comfortable staying away from work when I am on vacation, after all, I do not think of blogging as a job, I get tremendous pleasure from it, and my family loves the benefits of my blogging. Those benefits have included 3 media trips to Walt Disney World, so I get 100% support!
I have an HP laptop with Windows 7 that I usually take on vacations. I set it up in my hotel room and blog whenever I get a break. And when I say blog, I mean tweet and Facebook and check in with my thousands of friends! But that laptop weighs hundreds of pounds! Just kidding, but it is at least 3 times as large as my Lenovo, and, since now that your laptop must be taken out every time you go through airport security, you will want something lighter and smaller. I was thrilled to have this new device to take on this year’s vacation, the portability makes for a much easier traveling experience.
And the operating system is the newest, who has time to wait for a 3 year old laptop to start up and run? As the technology learning curve increases, we all get used to faster and faster processors in our computers. Is anyone out there old enough to remember the old dial up Internet and how long that took to load? When I turn on my computer, I want action! This Lenovo provides that.
On vacation my spouse gets to spend the majority of pool time with our son as he works long days during the year and has less time with him then. I am happy to sit back in a chaise lounge, at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, and let them frolic in the 4 pools there! The hotel has free wifi so I can get on pretty easily and sit for an hour liking my various friends Facebook entries, after all, I cannot afford to lose any ground when it comes to my Klout score! One has to be on top of their social media game if they want to succeed, and I do. I am grateful to have the right tools to accomplish that goal! I never bothered lugging around the HP laptop anywhere because it is so large and heavy, it stayed in the hotel room. This Lenovo is so light it fits right in our beach bag and is easy to use anywhere as you can see. Although next time I will need an umbrella to keep the sun and glare away, that was my only challenge on this trip!
And I am a new fan of the Windows 8 operating system. I find it easy to use and also feel it saves me time when looking for saved applications, and for switching between applications. I am one who does not like change, but I do like accessibility and ease of use! The option to use Windows as you did before is also there, so flexibility is a great option on this device!
I already had a tablet when I received this Lenovo laptop, and I do like using that as I race between events. But as you can see here at the pool, I got a lot of use out of the IdeaPad as a laptop for blogging, and as a tablet for many other tasks. This is a 2 in 1 device which works great for me, I am just not savvy enough to blog properly from my old iPad.
Look for my next post when I discuss a new use for my Lenovo Yoga IdeaPad laptop/tablet hybrid with Windows 8 – I just upgraded my 4G phone plan to include a hotspot, now my wireless Lenovo can be used in even more places!!
This was a great laptop for traveling with. Again, as an active social media type, I prefer as much computer time as possible, whether or not I am on vacation. And, many vacations include blogging as part of the trip if I am receiving assistance from local travel bureaus. Even if I am just going through Facebook and keeping in touch with all my social media friends, I need an hour, a few times a day, to stay in touch. I enjoy this part of my life and do not want to give it up on vacation, and being able to do so from this light, flexible, laptop/tablet hybrid, worked perfectly on our recent vacation in Las Vegas and San Francisco!
Disclosure: I am a #WindowsChampions Ambassador, and as such was given the above laptop to use and review. All opinions are always 100% honest and my own.
This is one happy social media addict!
I like the clear bright pictures on my Lenovo laptop. I am learning how to navigate on it. It was a good choice for me. I haven’t added Microsoft Office to it yet. I really only use it for searches, facebook, and email. I have explored a little with it, I am sure it has many options I haven’t discovered yet.
