I was there in the beginning. When the Simpsons were a short cartoon break during The Tracey Ullman Show. Over 15 years ago when the Fox Broadcasting Company first attempted to break into the TV market controlled by the big 3: ABC, NBC, and CBS.
The Simpsons, an animated sitcom, became such a huge hit that not only did it move from a cartoon short to a full prime time series, it has outlasted almost every other show on TV. Why? Because it is funny and relevant! 2 important ingredients that continue to hold my interest. Who doesn’t know a dysfunctional American family, or is part of one? When we recognize ourselves or our friends and neighbors, we are naturally hooked, and the satire in this series shows those characters in a superb fashion!
Do you remember the offshoot show from Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda? If so, do you remember Rhoda’s sister, Brenda Again, I am from those olden days, and have continued to follow Rhoda’s sister’s career, Julie Kavner, which now includes over a decade and a half as a voice on the Simpsons, along with her other Tracey Ullman co-star, Dan Castellaneta. They got the gig when the Simpson’s was a short during commercial breaks from The Tracey Ullman Show, how lucky were they!
The Simpsons is now in its 24th season on Fox, and continues to entertain us with it’s great writing and humor. This Fifteenth Season DVD is yet another great addition to your collection, I know in my home we watch some episodes over and over and the laughs keep coming! Coming out December 4, 2012!
Disclosure: We received this DVD for review. I asked for it because I am a huge fan! All opinions are always 100% honest and our own.
