“Skylanders Giants builds on the success of its predecessor by dramatically enhancing the magic of bringing toys to life in an exciting virtual experience as first introduced in Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure. The game features 16 new characters, led by eight Giant Skylanders, who are twice the size of their comrades. The Giants each have exciting new powers and abilities to match their size. Joining the Giants are eight new Skylanders, who also feature never-before-seen powers. Additionally, Skylanders Giants introduces new LightCore™ Skylanders that glow when on or near the Portal of Power®—no batteries required. Fan-favorites from Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure return as Series 2 characters featuring an all new “Wow Pow” upgrade power as well as the choice of more than one upgrade path. And all your favorite characters from Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure are 100% compatible with Skylanders Giants—stats and customizations intact.”
I do not review video games, that is my son’s job. And his joy! He had a few favorite games this year, the first Skylanders was easily the number 1. Is it fair to review this new Skylanders knowing that it would continue the genre and be his new #1 before he even started playing? I suspect it is this way for many folks.
This is him playing:
His old game was for the Wii, this game is for the Xbox 360. When he saw that this new game was for the Xbox, he started dancing around! He has been playing Skylanders on the Wii for months, he is thrilled to have this new game on his other gaming system.
My game reviews are not tech driven, they are parent driven. I have blogged many times about Skylanders, I bought a dozen extra figures for my son just because I got caught up in the excitement. All of my son’s friends love the Skylanders franchise, I am sure all of them will be getting Skylanders Giants for the holidays if not sooner. The game play continues the excitement of the first series and the added strength in the new Giants figures provide great excitement for these kids.
You do not have to purchase an entire starter kit, you can buy just the game and figures if you have the portal from the first series. You know at the first sign of a sale I am going to start buying all the other figures, I already wrote down the names of the 3 we just received, to start the list.
This new video game will be on our Holiday Gift Guide as the #1 video game choice for children this season, per my son. You can’t get a higher recommendation.
