I attended an event for my favorite toothpaste brand this week, Crest. Crest and Oral-B have teamed up with actress Jennie Garth, and her 9 year old daughter, Lola, to encourage parents and their children to brush up on their oral hygiene as the back to school season nears.
This was fun for me to see as my son is the same age as Lola. He has an evening routine that is not affected by the seasons: bath, bed, and book, were rituals established early on as my sister-in-law instructed me when my son was young. This works while we are on a school or day camp schedule. But that ends in a week, and then we have no commitments until school starts, and from what I have seen on Facebook from my friends around the country, school in some states started this week! We will need to be reminded of our routine right after Labor Day as we prepare to head to 4th grade.
My real issue is time. My son has an electric toothbrush that I purchased for him because I thought it would inspire him to brush more, and to brush better. The problem is, he can’t tell 20 seconds from 2 minutes. I even have a clock on the bathroom cabinet mirror!
The above is the Oral-B pro-health electric toothbrush. It runs for 2 minutes. This is exactly what my son needs so he brushes longer! I love that his tween group is getting this extra recognition as well:
“Crest and Oral-B are making it easier than ever to maintain healthy oral care habits this school year by introducing products to its kid-focused lines that make the process fun and worry-free for all ages. Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health FOR ME™, the FIRST complete line of oral care products for tweens (kids eight and up), has launched a new electric toothbrush to address oral care issues affecting this specific age group, particularly those with braces.”
Yes, these toothbrushes are designed with children’s braces in mind, and thank goodness for that, my son will be in braces within 2 years.
There is also Oral-B Stages, designed for children ranging from four months to seven years of age. Each age group has different needs, from baby teeth starting to come in, to the toddler 20 set of teeth, to the Kindergarten group who are starting to lose their baby teeth. And, they have added a Disney® favorite, Jake and the Neverland Pirates™, to the product line! Too young for my son, but I have a tube for my 3 year old neighbor who will be very excited.
Please use this post as a reminder to get those teeth brushing routines back in time for your own back to school, whenever that is, within the next 4 weeks. And as I show and tell my son, you don’t want to grow up with the number of cavities I had, so brush!

And of course, my celeb picture with Miss Jennie Garth!

It really is all about getting into a brushing routine, isn’t it? I have to admit, I don’t make my son brush for 2 minutes. Heck I don’t think I even brush that long! I think we all need these brushes!
What a great idea! We could all use one of those!
I never thought of brushing your teeth with braces. I think it would be difficult. The timer is a great idea because even 30 seconds when you’re just standing there seems like a long time.
Thanks for the info! I will surely check it out for our kids.
i always use Crest thanks!
I’m having to make a comment twice because I think I’ve commented on everything that isn’t a giveaway! So, I think Jennie Garth is adorable!!!
Crest is the best and I love Jennie Garth too!
