For the first part of my Norelco challenge I grew a beard. Now I needed to shave it down and leave myself with just the goatee. In the past I had to use the beard trimmer to trim down my full beard before I could use a regular shaver to get a full clean shave. This Philips Norelco AT830 PowerTouch Rechargeable Cordless Razor has a dual precision system which effectively shaves long hairs and short stubble. I did not have to use 2 razors to leave myself with just the goatee, this system was able to accomplish both jobs.
What was new for me with this razor, was the Norelco Aquatec technology which allows you to shave wet with gel or foam for extra skin protection. It reminds me of shaving with a manual razor without the cuts that I always manage to inflict upon myself, and with much less skin irritation.
I also liked the three shaving heads which pivot to follow the contour of my skin. I have written about this type of shaver before, it is not what I am used to, but I find it leaves me with a closer and smoother shave. I am open to change, especially if it shaves me a little quicker than my old shaver. The 3 heads work quicker on my face to help me save time in the morning when I shave. And the smoothness is noticeable. I would still be using my old 3 headed shaver if I hadn’t dropped it and made it unworkable. Sometimes rushing in the morning is dangerous! I am glad to have this type of razor back in my bathroom cabinet.
So now I have my goatee and I am not afraid of botching the shaving and trimming that needs to go along with maintaining it. And I am still not thrilled with the grey, so my next challenge is to keep this goatee trimmed down, close to the skin, we will see how that works in the next post!
For New Yorkers the hockey playoffs ended last week. The Rangers are out. We are all disappointed, but at least the nearby New Jersey Devils are in it, but I better get this post up quick because they may not make it to the finals!
