Is it wrong, when contacted by PR folk from your favorite sneaker company, to accept a pair of sneakers for review, that you already love? Actually, to be completely honest, I was using the New Balance 993 sneakers. I was sent the New Balance 990 for review.
I always feel the need to prove to my readers that I really am behind a product that I review. I have tested other sneakers that are perfectly fine, but as you can see, these are my favorite sneakers, I stock up when I see a good price. I actually had 2 extra pair in the closet, and 2 pair that I wear regularly:
Back to the New Balance 990:
“New Balance’s 990 is an iconic style that is the latest edition of one of the longest-running athletic shoe series in the industry – and now available in infant, pre-school and grade-school sizes. This running and walking shoe offers conventional fit that suits most foot types, with both a softer-density foam against the foot for cushioning and a firmer-density foam for support.
The New Balance 990 updates the 993, with sleeker looks and now a half ounce lighter. American craftsmanship at its finest, the Heritage 990 v3 series provides the perfect blend of cushioning and stability. The choice for supinators and moderate overpronators, the 990 is a durable high-mileage trainer with the cushioning to help you love running even more” OK, for me it is not so much running as walking. As a New Yorker I usually walk home from events, that’s about 3 miles every two days. Plus the aerobic machines at the gym.
Look at those gorgeous calves! These sneakers are a no brainer for my Father’s Day Gift Guide, soon to be published. I have been a fan of New Balance and this particular style for over 10 years, since the first salesman at Paragon Sports said they were for the larger, football player type build man. Perhaps my ego was being fed, but the sales man was right, the cushioning and support have been great. I am a big fan of these sneakers as you can see, and will continue to be!
And they are handcrafted in the USA – support the local industry!
I was also sent a New Balance shirt from the Align collection:
“Align is a collection of men’s training apparel that is engineered to deliver a more effective workout through the use of strategically placed guides on the garments that help the athlete maintain better body alignment and proper form. The visual cues act as guides during a workout to show an athlete when he is out of alignment or using incorrect form. For example, the line on the sleeve of the short sleeve top can be used to gauge the stopping point during a dumbbell press. A great gift for the dad-in-training!”
Gauge the stopping point during a dumbbell press? I wasn’t going to wear this gorgeous short to the gym, it’s too nice! Now I have to test that out.
Put it altogether, I am going to be even more gorgeous in this, my Father’s Day outfit!
