It is always exciting for me to go to the NY harbor and walk onto a cruise ship. I still remember my fist time, my sister and I went on board to bid “Bon Voyage” to our parents on their first cruise, over 25 years ago! It was quite fun, and tempting to stowaway!
This time around, I was invited to visit for a big longer than just that quick good-bye years ago. We started by checking out some of the more expensive suites on board. Luxury plus! They were gorgeous of course, but my interest lies in the pool area. As a parent, it’s all about my kid’s adventures on board. What will he do? Will he enjoy the pools? Are there other activities to keep him busy?
The Norwegian Gem had a great slide, even I would go on that one as it is not enclosed. Norwegian’s new ship next year will boast 5 slides, I can’t imagine those would have any wait time!
On board bowling! There were 4 lanes, what a great diversion when you need a respite from the sun’s rays! I will probably always be amazed every time I go on a cruise ship and see these types of amenities, bowling, huge theatres, pools, all floating on the ocean!
And my favorite thing about cruising with Norwegian! Nickelodeon on board! You never know when you are going to get slimed or see some characters like Dora, SpongeBob, or the Fairly Oddparents! I was greatly satisfied to see all the activities available for kids of all ages (I include myself in that!).
We were of course fed and the lunch was delicious. We saw the other restaurant offerings and of course my question was, exactly how much could I eat: not that I would eat 2 dinners, but I wanted to know if it were possible, just in case! The answer was yes.
Would I go on this cruise? Yes. We are actually looking into one that cruises to Canada for a small break from our rough NYC life. I just hope my son appreciates the hard work and research I put into finding a cruise for him!

Disclosure: I went on a tour of the Norwegian Gem and was fed a beautiful lunch in one of their on board restaurants. I also received a gift bag for attending the event. All opinions are always 100% my own and honest.
please
Oh, my, goodness! That slide looks so fun!! I think you’ve just sold me on a cruise for our next family vacay. It seems like it offers something for everyone.
