I thought I would approach this 3 Part review by growing a beard in anticipation of the NY Rangers winning the Stanley Cup (so far so good, as long as I did not just jinx them!). I am a New Yorker loyal to my city’s teams, and as a blogger I was able to meet some of the Ranger players at a charity event with my son, how cool a dad am I! And while I’m no hockey player, in solidarity, I am going for the scruffy look for a few weeks! It’s my NHL challenge, you can see me below in my old Rangers jersey and my scruffy unshaven face!
I have some denial about my advanced age which I cannot deny when I see how grey the beard comes in. This go around I am going to trim the goatee to within an inch of it’s life! The grey will still be there but I won’t look so much like Santa! I had a bushy goatee last year and got quite a few compliments, even my mother-in-law said something nice, that might have been a first for this century! That carries a lot of weight, and this time I am going to try it again but hopefully look younger with the shorter goatee.
The Philips Norelco Vacuum Stubble and Beard Trimmer Pro offers 18 secured length settings from 1 to 18 millimeters: this is how I will start to trim the goatee into a very closely cropped look, little more than a five o’clock shadow. The adjustable comb gently guides the trimmer blades to follow the curves of my face, this is a big help to me as I used to only be able to attempt this look by paying my barber to shave me. That gets expensive.
I love the unique integrated vacuum system that captures hair inside the trimmer handle as you cut your beard. There are 2 adult men living here, so the sink gets quite messy, any help in keeping us cleaner is welcomed! The other item to note is that this trimmer requires no oiling and features maintenance-free, stay-sharp blades. Maintenance free is my motto!
I also like the easy-to-use Turbo Power button. You press it to boost the cutting and fan speed to trim through thicker hairs more quickly. For me that is a huge help, because whenever I have grown a beard for awhile and then tried to trim/cut it, it is an unpleasant process because I never had the right device. Now I do.
This is also a very portable item. It has 50 minutes of charge time and a lock so that it won’t go off in your luggage, it is perfect for my upcoming trip to Chicago.

Disclosure: I received 2 Norelco products for review, a beard trimmer and a shaver. I am also being compensated. All opinions are always 100% and my own.
This Philips Norelco’s campaign coincides with the hockey playoffs because they believe no one is more passionate about their beards than a hockey fan during the playoffs. As an electric shaving company they are encouraging all hockey fans to sport a pro beard to support their pro team by saying “A Blade to the Face? No Thanks.” I always cut myself when I use a blade, so using an electric razor is the only way to go!
Philips Norelco is the leader in men’s grooming and understands that hockey fans don’t have time for amateur hour when it comes to their beards! They want the best trimmer (see above), and the Power Touch with Aquatech electric shaver that I will be highlighting in Part 2! Stay tuned and Go Rangers!
We’re Red Wings fans in my house, but since they’re out we’re rooting for the Rangers to win it. Great jersey pic!
