What could be better than hanging out in a tent in the middle of Manhattan and having renowned Chef Emeril Lagasse prepare us lunch with his new high-performance cookware collection available at JCPenney!
Emeril showcased hie new collection by cooking all morning with the various items from the new collection.
Some of the various features available:
-The 12 piece stainless steel cookware set features chef-approved durability with silicone gripped handles (so I don’t get burned again!) I love the glass lids that make it easy to view foods as they cook, it is oven-safe to 350°F, and these are compatible with gas, electric, halogen and induction stove tops. That is great news for those who are looking into the amazing induction stoves that I wrote about here, you won’t need separate cookware for different stoves.
I use stainless steel when I boil water, I do not use non-stick for that purpose, ever. I also saute in stainless steel, here is my Quinoa recipe where the first half of the cooking is all sauteing in stainless steel.
-Every piece of the 10 piece Enamel Cookware Set is non-stick and dishwasher safe (now if only I wasn’t the dishwasher!). They also contain glass straining lids that have variable sized holes for precision pouring – that is the best selling point for me!
– For the first time, Emeril is incorporating a non-stick surface with his Stainless Steel 8″ and 12″ Skillet 2 packs.
-The Deep Fryer prepares perfectly crisp food with no mess (I can’t wait to test taste that!). It automatically filters, drains and stores cooled oil into a resealable storage container, has an oil change indicator light. and contains a professional-grade heating element, Sounds like the best deep fryer in the market! Emeril talked to us about the safe way the oil was caught for reuse or disposal, otherwise you are spending far too much on new oil.
And Martha Stewart dropped by with Yvette Rios (correspondent from ABC’s the Chew), and I could not argue when Martha got to sample everything first! My favorite was the gumbo prepared for us in the pressure cooker. This was my favorite cookware item of the day. I am too nervous to use a slow cooker (that’s just me, the one in this collection performs great, I am sure), but the idea of speed cooking in the pressure cooker seems like sheer brilliance to me! Emeril explained to us all the safety features in this product, steam safety, etc., I was duly impressed, after all I have a child who loves to assist in the kitchen and this nervous dad is always scared of burns. Safety features are the first thing I look for, this pressure cooker has many – especially the hermetically sealed locking lid. This is something I would purchase at JCPenney without a second thought (and if you know me you know that means I am looking for a coupon for JCPenney!).
Here’s the gumbo, I had 2 bowls, only because there was more than enough and it was delicious!
JCPenney is already one of my favorite stores. Their recent publicity in support of their choice of Ellen DeGeneres as their spokesperson was fantastic. The store refused to be bullied by a small segment of crazies (this is solely my opinion).
Lastly, most of Emeril’s JCPenney cookware collection is made by T-Fal. Coincidentally, I just blogged about how much I love T-Fal here! I love when I get to write about products and company’s that I already am a fan of!
Find more information on their website and don’t forget to enter the contest! Find out how to enter and learn more about the cookware here.
Disclosure: I received a set of cookware by Emeril from JCPenney. This did not influence my writing. All opinions are 100% my own and honest.
And no, I did not push Martha aside to get this pic!

Oh what a wonderful time you must have had. I have got to get his deep fat fryer. We use ours all the time and the grease get so expensive. Thanks for the great review.
