Firstly. be assured, this is just my personal experience and my opinion. This article is not a condemnation of wordpress by any means. I am also quite aware that this is a representation of my experience at the beginning of the process, I understand that once I am fully ensconced in wordpress and educated as to all it has to offer, I may be 100% happy that I made the move.
To start, I fear the the person that I hired to move my blog may not have known all that she was in for. My blog is fairly large and had a lot of content and comments to move. This is not easy to accomplish. If I had made the move 1 year earlier many of the issues that I have had may not have arisen. Part of the service I was paying for was to have any broken links fixed. Again, my blog is large and when you make this kind of move, from the blogger platform to the wordpress platform, there are many broken links. For example, all my pictures were written in blogger script, so it makes sense that they would all have to be rewritten in wordpress script when the move is made. I understand from friends that this is a huge undertaking and presented a large work load for the person I hired. It is possible the person may not have had the expertise to move a blog of my size.
Also, my hosts server has let me down twice in 1 month. The second time is because she did not give me enough bandwidth. That is now costing me $300/year, where on blogger it cost $0. I welcome your comments if anyone knows a reliable way to do this more cheaply. I also got a warning that my disc size was reaching capacity. What the hell is that? Why were these issues not taken care of before they became an issue?
Why did I make the move? I could not find anyone to help me with design in blogger, everyone seemed to be focused on wordpress. I need to move into the next phase of growth and thought wordpress was the best route to accomplish that goal. I honestly still believe it is. I have to point out that I hate change as well, so a huge change like this has had me freeaked out on several occasions, especially when my stat counter was not working.I love looking at my stats all day long!
In conclusion, I have a lot to learn and remain unconvinced that I made the right move. Perhaps the wordpress people are the ones spreading the rumors that Google may cancel blogger at any time! Lastly, to be completely honest, I will update you, I am open to the fact that in a few months I may be thrilled that I made this move, we shall see!

Is a move from Blogger to WordPress inevitable? I’m on Blogger and I’ve already put so much into it…HTML code that I painstakingly had to figure out myself and all that jazz. Please say it isn’t so!

I’ve struggled with making a move, so I’ll be curious to see how you end up liking it. Keep us posted! I personally do not want to commit $300 to pay for hosting, especially if there is a free option out there. I have learned to work in blogger, and while it would be nice to learn something new, I think moving my blog would present a giant headache!

When I hit the Mega Millions this week I will hire a developer to take me HIGHER than Google and WordPress combined! As I lounge on warm soft sands in the Caribbean……

as another hold-out on blogger, i will be raptly waiting for the update if you are now a wordpress devotee. i think when/if i do move, i may just start anew rather than try and bring it all over, but maybe that isn’t a great idea either…
