It’s all about the probiotics. Something that I take in pill form every day. And, I found out, I am getting almost no use from it as I take it on an empty stomach. I should know better. These types of products need a delivery system such as a protein (yogurt) or a fiber. I had already learned and forgotten this when I was studying about flaxseed oil.
I attended an event to discuss Dannon’s newest Activia innovation, Activia Harvest Picks (it contains real fruits pieces!), and was happily reminded that I needed to change how I was ingesting my probiotics. To take a pill and not get the full benefit of the product is typical me, so I remain hopeful that I will remember to take my active yogurt cultures in a protein/fiber base to get the full benefit! And as you can see below, these are from today’s shopping, sometimes I am even too busy to eat my yogurt, I have to drink it on the run!
Lastly, as I brought up at the event, I have learned that antibiotics kill the bad germs as well as the good germs when we take them. Well, think about it, the medicine doesn’t know the difference, why wouldn’t they kill the good germs as well? That is why I always gave my son yogurt when ever he has been on an antibiotic prescription. It is mind boggling that only recently have doctors picked up on this. We give our kids (and ourselves), medicines to get better, and then we let the medicines hurt us. Eating these yogurts reintroduces the good germs into our digestive system right away to keep us strong as we fight the bad germs. I love this knowledge!

Disclosure: I received some yogurt and an autographed dessert book for attending the event, shh, it’s a surprise autographed book for my sister-in-law, the cooking blogger!

My mom SWEARS by the cheese they make. I don’t know if she has tried the yogurt yet.

Group Danone cearlly wasn’t observing what was going on at the supermarket shelf – at least not in the USA. When Fage first launched, they offered price promotions such as “3 for $5.00″. This promotion stimulated triers – delighted with the “real” taste of Greek yoghurt the triers became repeat customers. I was one of those triers who became a loyal Fage customer.. Before long, word of mouth kicked in to further fuel the popularity of Greek yoghurt. Group Danone also didn’t notice Fage’s category placement – the product could typically be found on a high shelf on the opposite side of the aisle from the mainstream yoghurt brands and store brands. Thus, shelf placement helped differentiate Fage from its category competition. Fage also cleverly differentiated its product by using a round, squat, mostly white package, vs. the classic cone-like package used by Dannon and all other yoghurt brands.Had Group Danone gotten out of the office and into the supermarket aisles or hired a retail ethnographer to observe the aisles, they would have been able to identify their competitor threat much, much earlier in the game.

yeah, in 2 tbsp (a snivreg) there are 40 calories, 1g fat, 2g protein, and 1g fiber. not bad for when you need a quick fix!! I put it on crackers or on sandwiches. sometimes things like that are worth it.
