My family and I woke up early Saturday morning to make the trek up to the Upper West Side for our fre screening of the Muppets movie. Now mind you, my son is a tough guy and 8 1/2. Out of courtesy I asked him if he wanted to go to this movie thinking he would laugh at me. Needless to say he wanted to go, I really thought he had aged out of this and would have laughed at me.
With that being said, he was excited to see the movie. I do not have much history with the Muppets, as an American citizen you cannot help but know about them, but I am too old to have grown up with them. I did not have great expectations.
Guess what? We were laughing the whole time. We thoroughly enjoyed the movie from start to finish. I am dying to drop some celeb names as spoilers, but my son and I both shrieked with delight as one of our favorite comedy actors appeared on the screen as the human form of one of the Muppet characters.
The movie was a bit corny. But, it knew it was corny and ran with it, like it was part of the joke. That made it work. There were a couple of slow songs that were better suited to the toddler set, but otherwise I am so glad we went. And my son s in complete agreement! My spouse however likes nothing and true to form thought this movie was childish. Duh, it’s suppose to be! At least Paul and I left with smiles on our faces!
Here is a little tease:
Like the Muppets on Facebook!
P.S. The Toy Story short film preceding this was so funny it has me yearning for a Toy Story 4!
Disclosure: Disney provided the tickets for the movie. All opinions expressed here are 100% honest and our own.
Miss Piggy cannot let anyone take the lime light from her!
