I was invited as press to attend the Big City Moms Biggest Baby Shower event. Now, while I am not planning on getting pregnant again, I do love baby stuff. After all, I raised my son from right out of the belly and researched every move I made!
What I most enjoyed during this, my first time at the event, was saying thank-you to the specific companies that got me through my first year. We left the hospital in Arizona with so much formula that we had extra to take on the plane 11 days later. It was a tremendous help as we were completely unprepared, because when you adopt, you never know if it is going to fall through or work. I clearly remember my formula, Enfamil with Lipil. I was very sad that we could not get breast milk for our infant, but when I saw the advertising for Enfamil with Lipil for extra smarts, I felt reassured that my child would not lag behind in intelligence because he was being bottle fed! Yay!
Then on to Dr. Brown’s baby bottles. Why this bottle? Because my sister-in-law, who’s third child came 10 weeks after my 1st, said so. I relied most heavily on this sister-in-law because her kids were the youngest and we would be raising the infant cousins together. I know things have changed: bottles and nipples are different, the container material is not the same, but I got to say thanks to the company that got me through 8 1/2 years ago!
Then on to Inglesina! We were very Italian centric so our baby carriages were always Italian. We started with a Peg Perego and then moved onto the Inglesina Zippy. The simplest way to tell you that this was my favorite stroller of all time was to share that I kept it for a full 2 years after my son stopped using it. Yes, I literally got rid of it last year, it had been sitting in my son’s room from the age of 5 to 7 completely unused. I loved the way it closed with one foul swoop. I would purposely take cabs because it was so easy to close and throw in the trunk! And I got to meet the man behind the brand for the USA market. I told hm how much I loved his product, and again, thanked him.
Since I am a parent blogger with an audience of moms and dads with children of all ages, I also got to see some of the vendors that I have been dealing with for giveaways! My favorite person was the Britax girl! She helped me with a great baby carrier giveaway, and then when I won another of the same, she showed me how to donate it to a kids charity. And this is all through emails. Meeting Miss Kate, so I could put a face to the email address, was great!
And my Summer Infant Prodigy car seat people were in attendance! It was great to meet additional people from this line of great baby products. I attended one of their events and I was very impressed with the innovations in their baby car seat. And then they let me give one away on the blog. Ir is always a pleasure to meet people form great companies!
Lastly, Sage Spoonfuls. A new company with simple recipes and healthy meals for a happy baby! I loved that the guide they gave me showed what were the best foods to buy organic, and what had the least amount of pesticides. If you think about it, peeled fruit like bananas are not crucial to be bought organic. Strawberries are. Sage Spoonfuls gets their info from the Environmental Working Group (ewg.org), a group I subscribe to. And you have no reason to take my recommendation, so here’s 15% off to try for yourself! Use code “Hayden” at www.sagespoonfuls.com and tell them daddy Mitch sent you! Check out the promo:
Check out Big City Moms website for all things baby, you will be duly impressed!
Follow Big City Moms on Facebook and Twitter, you do not want to miss any of their updates!
They throw more than 1 event a year and they are fabulous! You pay an admission fee and more than make up for it in products, giveaways, and other prizes. And you come away with having had great opportunities, from watching how to make your own baby food, to testing strollers on different terrains! The experiences for new and soon to be moms/dads is invaluable, I wish this was around when I was adopting my son. And the goody bag for the attendees is one of the best I have ever seen with many, many useful items for the proud parents!
Disclosure: I received a gift bag for attending the event. All opinions are 100% my own and honest.
And here is the paparazzi pic from the event! Susan Lucci’s daughter was one of the vendors on hand and was there to support her. This is the secret to my pics – almost all the celebs I meet are parents and we always have that commonality to talk about!
this looks wonderful!
I’m going to check out their page, with a 4 month old we could use all the info and giveaways for babies. And Susan Lucci looks beautiful, I think she looks even better than on tv, and that is pretty unusual.
I am in the midst of shopping for a baby carrier so this was great to read!………. Baby Carriers
