We have not tried any other microphones but this one, and there are now several in the marketplace for this holiday season. We have nothing to compare this one against, so this is the one we recommend.
From what I could tell, via my son the blog product reviewer, fun microphones are a must have for any family. It offers hours of fun and an opportunity for daily play. At any time my son might end up picking up his microphone to talk funny or sing a little bit. And yes, he is now taking a chorus class at the boys club, so any singing practice is encouraged. He will not however, under any circumstances, sing for my you-tube filming. That’s OK, just so long as he practices, I know the payoff is coming (Justin B in the making? lets hope!)!

The bracelet and ring are used to create additional sound effects, simply tap one of these accessories on the target zone and activate different voice and sound effects!
I leave certain toys around as I know my son will pick it up often, and this is one of those toys. The High School musical megaphone that he used to use for that purpose has since mysteriously disappeared!
