The Orlando Convention & Visitors Bureau did a presentation last week that I wanted to share with my readership. My son is now at an age that trips around America are times for great adventures with my family, we have started to visit several locations across the country and now we can include Orlando without me worrying about the crowds at Disney.
My son canceled our Disney trip last year when he developed a fear of flying. The first week of NYC public school was literally one day the week after the Labor Day holiday. That is the perfect week to beat the Disney crowds. My son would not get on the plane so I do not know when we will next have an opportunity like that. I will not vacation at Disney when the hordes of folks from around the country have the same vacation as us. Luckily my son already went at the age of 5 with his grandparents. The good news is he did get on a plane this year so Orlando is now a great possibility and has many other attractions in addition to Disney and Universal.
Opening in October, 2011, the newest Legoland will be introduced to America. I can’t wait to take my son and give you a review of that experience, Legos are his #1 toy and activity.
SeaWorld Orlando is a must see attraction in Florida. My parents take all their grandkids to Florida for their 5th birthday and my dad, who inspired my love of all living creatures, always insists on including a day at SeaWorld. My parents made a reservation and included a dinner with the sharks for my son. That is pretty much as exciting as it gets for my fish loving son! And, on this recent trip to hear about Orlando I learned that SeaWorld has a water park. I had no idea, but it is good to know there is yet 1 more thing that is offered in this great city!
Florida EcoSafaris At Forever Florida has adventures for the whole family. You can conquer the treetop thrills of the Zipline Safari, relax and explore the forested wetlands on the Cypress Canopy Cycle, experience the pioneer-style adventure of the Horseback Safari or just sit back, relax and take it all in on the all-ages Coach Safari. Each adventure offers a unique opportunity to leave the theme parks far behind and experience one of the most pristine kept natural areas left in Florida.
There are also a host of other sites to see in Orlando, visit the Orlando tourist information site, Visit Orlando, for more info.
As a courtesy I am going to post the 3 area hotels that were at the event. I always suggest checking price and amenities before making a decision, Orlando has hundreds and hundreds of hotel options so there is something for everyone. Some of the things that I look for are pool size (and maybe a lazy river attraction which many of these hotels have), complimentary breakfast, and free Internet access so I can blog. Location wise, all the hotels mentioned seem to be situated right where you would need to be to see all that Orlando has to offer!
This is the Hilton Bonnet Creek and the Waldorf-Astoria Orlando:
And don’t forget to shop! The Premium Outlets of Orlando has recently expanded (and is filled with the shops that remind me of Italy), this is some of the best shopping around. I know because I stopped at their NY State Woodbury Commons Outlet this past weekend and shopped for the whole family.
Disclosure: I received a small gift bag for attending the event. All opinions are always 100% my own and honest.
