Kmart announced today that it will be the exclusive retailer for the new Gordon Ramsay Everyday kitchen collection. Gordon Ramsay’s show is one of the only reality shows I will watch – Hell’s Kitchen – a show which illustrates why he is such a successful restaurateur. He kicks butt because he wants his customers to get the best meal. So when I saw the collection of Gordon Ramsay Everyday cookware, which will make its debut in Kmart stores in fall 2011, I feel I am getting the right kitchen aids that are recommended by a man who wants us to have the top of the line. The line will include cookware, dinnerware, cooking utensils and small kitchen appliances.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Gordon Ramsay on the Everyday line, allowing us to offer Kmart customers kitchen products made to his exacting standards as a professional chef,” said John Goodman, executive vice president of Apparel and Home for Sears Holdings. “Anyone who has watched Gordon in action knows that he’ll accept nothing less than the best—which is exactly the caliber of home products we want to offer our customers, along with compelling value. The addition of quality cookware to our overall portfolio of trusted brands marks an unprecedented step at Kmart in combining true culinary expertise with accessibility in this category.”
In today’s economy, more people are eating at home and are experimenting with new dishes and techniques, and Gordon wants to share his firsthand expertise in the kitchen with Kmart customers. For example, the boning knife. Who heard of such a thing 10 years ago? Now it represents the ability to take a less expensive store bought chicken and carve it into the pieces you want. For me that means buying a whole chicken at $1 a pound instead of just breast cutlets at almost $6 a pounds. Sure, you could use any knife, but the job is easier with the right knife.I enjoy cooking and can do a better job with a kitchen implement that is specific to the work I need to do in the kitchen. It is not Gordon Ramsey’s fault that I will then ruin the meal with my bad cooking! Just kidding?
“Cooking is my passion,” said Ramsay. “It’s great to be able to provide quality products to everyone, from the novice to the advanced. Many of my fans have been seeking advice for some time on how to help transform their home cooking into more of a fine-dining experience. By developing this collection, I can make the right tools available to them—and, in working with Kmart, I can guarantee each product is being offered at an accessible price.”
I liked the collection and want to say that it also included a $39.99 deep fryer for your home kitchen. The only person I know who owns their own deep fryer is my sister-in-law and we love to sit there and watch her cook and then serve us fried chicken, french fries, basically anything she will give us! And I can own my own for $39.99? I had no idea they could sell a deep fryer so inexpensively, I thought that was at least a $100 item!
I also liked the Cuban Sandwich maker. Panini presses were all the rage last year, this year it is the Cuban Sandwich maker that is the hot new item! We used to only find this sandwich in specialty Spanish shops, now it has become popular enough that everyone is ready to make their own at home.
This is just a sampling of the great products available.

Even though Chef Ramsey comes off as a jerk on his show, it’s evident that he does have a talent for cooking so it makes sense he’s launching a cookware line.
