I wouldn’t know where to start. My blog is full of video game reviews from my son. He pretty much loves all video games that are boy centric.
For the DS, anything Mario related, many Power Ranger games, Sonic, almost all Lego titles. I occasionally receive these items for review, the majority are purchased on my own. I am a shopaholic so my son does have over 60 titles. I also enjoy buying the DS game holders!
For video games purchase, I recommend ToysRUs hands down. I do not trade in video games for used games, if that is something that you do, then you do not need this recommendation, I also do not buy games on-line. I got burned that way 1 time (I don’t remember the site).
For disclosure purposes, ToysRUs does not compensate me for talking about them. I have found that their advertised sales on video games for almost all platforms are far superior than anything out there. I buy when I see a sale, I do not buy video games on impulse. As much as my son may want me to. Over 95% of my new video game purchases are made during ToysRUs’s various video games sales.
The other device we use a lot is the Nintendo Wii. We do receive a lot of games for review on the Wii. There are very few that my son does not like. Nicktoons MLB, Disney Universe, all Lego, Ben 10, just to name a few. Again, Sonic, Mario, almost all Wii titles he enjoys – as long as they are for boys! There are over a dozen reviews all over the blog re Wii titles.
I do want to add that I am reviewing new tech this season. You can see my review of Activision’s Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure here. It is a video game that includes a separate platform with characters that the Wii can read. From the re view by my son, I wold say this new tech is a huge hit, something new to welcome this holiday season! Activision has also made a robot dog that works with your DS – Wappy! Again, new tech is one of the way to add to your holiday gift giving experience, something new and exciting in the video gaming field! I did receive both games for review (disclosure).
For the Girls
I cannot review girl video offerings.
I did go to an event and was introduced to several new DS games from Activision. They did also give me the games which will be used for various holiday blog giveaways (disclosure).
Squinkies, Lalaloopsy, Zhu Zhu Babies, Zoobles, and Moshi Monsters are all great titles and should keep the girls happy for hours. Activision is playing it smart with all these new titles, girls are over 50% of the population and just 40% of the video market. And many of these titles come with a limited edition collectors toy. What a great holiday gift!
