Warning, major Corniness ahead!
At the age of 44 I was able to adopt an infant and become a dad.
Becoming a dad was my dream since I was a teenager.
I knew it was impossible since I was gay but luckily our society has moved forward enough that it did become possible in my lifetime.
I am also not rich and did not think a middle class person could pull off an adoption, especially since it had to cost more if 2 dads were adopting.
But we did it.
So here I am 8 years later, watching my son grow into an amazing person, with my help of course!
So what do I want for Father’s Day? Nothing that I don’t already have. For me this day has no extra meaning. It has no extra meaning because every day I wake up and I have a child that calls me daddy is Father’s Day. I know that is the corny part, but it is truly what I have felt in my heart since the day he was born. And for that I am eternally grateful.
So enjoy this little clip of my talented son performing in Readers Theater! That’s my never ending gift!
Happy Father’s Day Mitch!!!! This post was not corny at all – so sweet, and you’re an amazing dad to Paul!!
Awwwww you write the sweetest posts. Being a parent is alot of work but no other job compares to being a parent – the unconditional love, the hugs – everything. I just adore. Happy father’s Day to my fave dad blogger!
Ummmm where’s the corny part? This post is replete with LOVE! Happy Father’s Day, Mitch!
Great post and cute video. Happy Father’s Day to you both. Following on GFC.
