Thank-you Legos and Pirates of the Caribbean!

The Lego company sent us the above set for review (that is my disclosure!).
Over 1,000 pieces.
Pirates of the Caribbean, Queen Ann’s Revenge.
For age 9 and above.

My son will turn 8 this weekend and has not yet had any Lego sets that were aged for above 7 years old. I was a little nervous as he gets easily frustrated.

We received this set on a Saturday. Again, as it was within 8 days of my son’s birthday he was extra thrilled as he knew he had even more to come! I set him up very clearly, I told him he had to take each numbered bag one by one. Again, he had never done anything for age 8, let alone age 9. I was a little nervous. As most parents, I was wrong!

He worked diligently with the directions all night. He did not finish but did try to work on that set every extra minute he could between Saturday and Monday evening when he did finish. And he did an amazing job! There were a couple of episodes, crying, screaming, yelps of frustration when pieces fell off from too much pressure. And he had an occasional tough time as well!

As many Lego sets as we have gone through in this house (dozens!), this one could not be dismantled! I had to clear a shelf of old artwork of my son’s and put this ship on display right above our china cabinet (it does not have any china). We are all very proud of his hard work and beautiful creation. He worked hard with his favorite brand of toy and is reminded of how well he did every time he looks up to the side of the living room.

And as I said in the earlier post, my son has more than 5 Lego sets coming for his birthday, all for Age 8. He has never done those before either!

Legos are the greatest toys!
