The magic of Harry Potter swoops into New York City for Harry Potter: The Exhibition at Discovery Times Square!
“This is the exhibition’s final North American destination before traveling internationally. The exhibit will run through September 5, 2011. In partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Global Experience Specialists, Inc. (GES) created the 14,000-square-foot experiential exhibition, where visitors will be able to visit dramatic displays inspired by the Hogwarts™ film sets and see the amazing craftsmanship behind authentic costumes and props from the films. Original artifacts from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and the highly anticipated finale, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 2, will be on display along with hundreds of original props and costumes from all of the previous Harry Potter films.”
Harry Potter: The Exhibition offers fans a firsthand view of hundreds of authentic artifacts displayed in settings inspired by the film sets—including the Great, the Gryffindor™ common room—and more.
Many children in America have seen the Harry Potter movies so this is a must see for them. My son is almost 8 and is not only a fan, but speaks in a British accent because he was so affected by the movies.
This was a great opportunity for the parents as well, aren’t we all huge fans of the movie and book series? We got to see Hagrid’s Hut, his actual clothes, and other items like the dragons egg that he hatched (yes, it moved like it was about to hatch!).
And my son got to play Quidditch! There was no flying snitch, they ran out of working broom sticks, but who cares! Even though we all know it is like the basketball games at the carnival, it doesn’t matter, this was Harry Potter’s actual Quidditch! My son is very hands on and he felt great being able to participate, have I said what a fan of the movies he is? We have the first 6 movies at home and they get viewed quite often.
We also got to pull a mandrake for re-potting purposes, thankfully not one fully grown or the shrieks would have injured us!
The exhibit was a lot of fun, and as most exhibits do, this one ended in the gift shop. I make deals with my son all day long, I got him to settle on a magic wand, the $14.99 one, not the $499 one! Note: I would have paid more if they actually levitated me! As you can see below, my son tried!
Disclosure: We received complimentary admission tickets for the purpose of this review. All opinions are always 100% our own.
Wow, that looks so cool! Your kid must have loved seeing real Quidditch equipment.
Thanks for sharing,Mike
So fun! I wanna go!
