Can you see me behind the Hard Rock sign? That’s where we were cooking potato chip encrusted delicious fish!
I had the opportunity the other day to visit the pop-up Frito Lay kitchen sitting behind the Hard Rock billboard in Times Square! It was a fun and slightly fattening day that started in the back room of the Hard Rock cafe sampling all the new chips flavors: Jalapeno Jack Sun Chips, Roasted Garlic and Black Bean Tostitos, Garden Tomato & Basil Lays, and Creamy Garden Ranch Lays!
I am a big fan of all things Sun Chips, so I was envisioning the Jalapeno Jack ones with some nice sour cream spread. My other favorite flavor was the Creamy Garden Ranch. Yum!
Then we headed to to the billboard (thankfully the rain had completely stopped) and met Frito-Lay executive chef Stephen Kalil who was working with cooking show hostess Laura McIntosh. We tasted some dips and ate as many chips as we could (OK, maybe that was just me).
The real talk is that there is lower saturated fat, lower sodium, and a goal to make 50 percent of the company’s products with all natural ingredients by the end of 2011. I personally am always sold when they talk about whole grain content as well!
Check out Frito Lay on Facebook!

I am SO going to have to try the Jalapeno Jack Sun Chips! I hate when I am trying to “sneak ’em” since the bag is so noisy! My kids come around the corner asking for some. I don’t always like to share heehee 🙂
