Upon entry visitors are given 5 minutes to memorize details of different spy profiles that they are to assume as their “cover” before they are allowed to proceed into the exhibit area. Later while touring the museum visitors may test themselves at an interactive display on how well they remember the details of their selected spy identity. They may also be stopped occasionally by museum guides acting as “police” and “questioned” about their assumed identity.

There was duct work to crawl through to spy on the helpless tourists below, a wall of celebrity spies which included Julia Child, and many more interesting exhibits to see as my son raced through to the gift shop. We bought a switchblade that opens into a comb instead of a knife (a great item to go through security with all over DC!), and I added to my collection of handcuffs – souvenir gifts for when we get home, I promise!
