The Department of Education in NYC has recently decided to have the City’s 2nd grade students learn to swim so they are safe in the water.
I don’t know where the money is coming from in these times of fiscal crisis. But I do know that even though it is a pain to chaperon these kids every 2 weeks (that’s my shift), they all seem to have a really good time. Of course my son is a good swimmer having learned these skills at camp, but nonetheless, he enjoys the break away from school and the opportunity to frolic in the water.
So thank-you Board of Ed, for whatever your reasons, for providing this fun diversion for our 2nd graders!
This one’s mine!

This swimming lesson opportunity is a great thing, coming from Fl I have lots of experience with kids and water and its just as important to teach water safety as swimming (to adults as well as kids). Actually young children who don’t swim all winter forget how to swim from year to year and have to be reminded.
You’re a great Dad to take advantage of all this

Swim lessons are a welcome program by most parents. It’s a great thing.
