We had the pleasure of visiting the Children’s Museum of Manhattan last Friday eve to experience Playmobil’s first US exhibit.
I was concerned that my soon to be 8 year old son might get bored as the museum seems to be for a slightly younger crowd. As usual I was wrong, we were some of the last families asked to leave when they were shutting for the night!
Playmobil was represented on all floors and we also had a chance to play with some of their toys! The exhibit itself includes a variety of displays focusing on a selection of Playmobil’s exciting themes. And to top the evening off, there was a scavenger hunt which encouraged the children to further explore the museum and it’s other exhibits.
Imaginary play is a vital part of early childhood development so working with Playmobil was a natural for the Children’s Museum, and on select dates through the run of the exhibit (it ends June 5, 2011), families will have the opportunity to participate in workshops that will offer the chance to experience Playmobil hands on. So plan you rtrip and remember the first Friday night of every month is free thanks to Target!
