We had a blast at the intro party for the new Nickelodeon video products coming out for the holidays. At 7 1/2, my son refuses to acknowledge his past with Dora (we used to watch this show religiously), but he did enjoy the Diego DS game.
The game is for the younger set, and in a fantastic partnering deal, Diego uses Mega Bloks in a similar way that later on Indiana Jones uses Legos! As you may have read earlier in the week, we were just building Dragons Universe, the more mature version of Mega Bloks. Of course my genius son already gets the marketing connections and was sharing this with the video marketing director. You know he is trying to take over my blog.
He thoroughly enjoyed building and helping Diego get from level to level. I would say we are at the upper level of the age group for this product, but having grown up with these characters, the appeal is still there. That’s the opinion I glean from the fact that my son was playing here for over 30 minutes!
Again, you may have read that I miss the days when we watched and listened to the music of the Backyardigans. Well, here they are in the Nickelodeon Fit for kids! This was in a room with massage chairs so dad was very excited to sit and watch my son bowling with the Backyardigans and playing Frisbee with Dolphins. My son is very athletic and enjoyed this.
Dora’s Cooking Club for DS is the big introduction here, so big, that a star from America’s Top Chef came by, Padma Lakshmi!
And here’s the famous paparazzi pics!
Padma Lakshmi, host of Top Chef, came by to help Dora cook.
Olympian Sanya Richards was on hand to help with Nickelodeon Fit.
And, our very first Spanish teacher, Dora the Explorer very generously lent herself to my wall of paparazzi!
Disclosure: I did not receive an monetary compensation for this post. I did receive a gift bag of various electronic games to review. Look out for some great Dora for DS giveaways in January!
