I had the good luck to be invited to Disney’s video introduction event. Most videos are coming out this month, November,2010. There were some great offerings.
Disney’s Epic Mickey allows players to use their own solutions for getting through the levels. The key feature of the game is the magic paint brush which Mickey wields. It is a perfect game for boys, there are battles, enemies, and mad doctors. It is a little dark and borrows from the older Mickey characters. My son was mesmerized, it is perfect for his age group (5-10). Any game that has fighting is perfect for boys (how stereotypical am I?) and the use of strategies is a plus for the parents. Girls like it too as evidenced by the game by son played with his friend, A, daughter of nycsinglemom!
“SING IT, PARTY HITS” taken from the stables of Disney’s big singing stars, was also a lot of fun for my son, he is a budding songster, just ask his music teacher!
I am new at the video thing, but how could I resist, my son has such a good voice!
We also got to play “Tangled” for Wii which is not available to the general public, and also was not out in the theaters yet. We saw it anyway last Saturday, thanks Dr. Yakini! The movie and the video game are perfect for kids. Rapunzel is far from a victim, she is a princess, but can take care of herself. The clashes between Maximus the horse and Rapunzel’s suitor, Flynn, also make for fun times for both boys and girls. The translation to video works very well, and is a lot of fun for kids of all ages (that would be me!)
We love all video games in this house, and certainly anything and everything from Disney will most probably become a classic. We had a great time playing all the Disney offerings. Phineas & Ferb for DS were also represented, and you know I sang their theme song (I have no shame!).
And don’t forget, there is always a paparazzi picture!
Disclosure: I did not receive any monetary compensation for this post. I did get a gift bag with 2 videos, I did get fed, and my son did get to play for 2 hours. All opinions are 100% my own.

I’m a 21 year old female and Epic Mickey excites me probably more than it should! Yes, I am still a kid at heart! I think it looks really stunning and fun. I’m glad to hear your son and his friend had a good time playing it. 🙂
