How to buy a beautiful new printer for dirt cheap,
by Daddy Mitch
1. Wait for a sale.
2. Look for a coupon.
3. Hoard recyclable cartridges until you get the maximum recycle amount.
4. Save Staples rewards until right before they expire.
5. Make sure the stars are in alignment!
I have been shopping around for a new printer for a few months. I mainly shop at Staples so I review their flyer every week. I almost bought a model that was going to be discontinued, but when I got around to it, it was sold out. That means it wasn’t meant to be.
This week there was a sale and a coupon so I thought I would try again. I had $48 in rewards money as well. Turns out this is a brand new model, not even on the Staples website per the cashier (I was looking for a free delivery!). On sale for $30 off. I was emailed a $50 coupon last week. I had $48 in Staples rewards.
Walking to Staples I saw an email on my blackberry, I got new rewards just today! How fortuitous! I was able to print out 2 more rewards at Staples itself for a total of $34.
So, my brand new model, HP Photosmart printer, retail $199.98, $217 with tax, was purchased today for $42. Over 80% in savings.
Who’s the frugal one now??
Disclosure: No one gave me anything for this purchase, I did all my own research. And after all that savings I was too cheap to take the bus home! And you know I will find a way to blow this extraordinary savings on something nonsensical down the road! I always say, you have to SPEND to SAVE!
