GREETINGS FROM THE PORK BOARD, CANDACE CAMERON AND ME!

I had the honor of accompanying my blog mentor, Linda, to an evening of Pork! Sponsored by the National Pork Board (link), I got to taste many dishes cooked fresh for this event. You know I was in hog heaven!

Here you can see us with one of the contest winning chefs that were flown in to cook for us and compete for a further prize. These contestants were in the final competition for the best pork dish at Crocktoberfest – get it, they had to cook their meal in a Crockpot! All the dishes were delicious, and I was thrilled to eat the night away. And the winner got a check for $5,000, $500 worth of pork for their chosen food bank, and a one year supply of Reynolds slow-cooker liners

If the National Pork Board is sponsoring an event, what do you expect? Bacon infused vodka, bacon chocolate, and bacon popcorn. I had to hide the last 2 products from my son, he is a big bacon fan. He actually came home with an art project today entitled, “my angry face when there is no bacon in the house.” You may not believe me, but timing is everything – that picture will be published this Wednesday.

I also got to meet some marketing guys from Reynolds. When I mentioned to them how my mother-in-law uses the cheap aluminum foil, they offered to send some to her with a note demanding that she never buy the cheap stuff again! They were at the event to talk about the slow-cooker liners.

And I cannot end without a paparazzi shot! Candace Cameron Bure, of “Full House” sitcom fame and also “Make it or Break it” the ABC Family Network show , was one of the hosts of the evening along with Chef Hosea Rosenberg. I seem to be collecting pictures with beautiful TV stars!
