My son and I attended a video introduction event by Konami, the video game folks. We were the perfect combination to review their products as he is the end user and I am the purchaser. Look for these items in the Fall of 2010.
The first thing that struck me was that their were several games coming out for multiple platforms that we were already obsessed with as toys and TV shows. This is the perfect extension for the consumer. My son has been asking for Gormiti toys for 1 year now. We got to play Gormiti on the Wii and test out the game, he was thrilled to try this. It is remarkable to me the proficiency of the younger generation on these games, he figured out how to play leaving me quickly in the dust.
The other game that was a shock to see was BeyBlade, an old cartoon, and a current toy. Again, my shopaholic son had been clamoring for the toy so when he had the opportunity to play the game on the Wii, he was most happy. I think these tie-ins are great for the consumer.
There are also several new items for the new Kinect technology. You do not hold any controllers. My son was able to box, play tennis, and do some archery with the various Deca Sports that will be introduced. This new tech works on every Xbox 360.
There are many other games coming out, from Dance Dance Revoltion to Saw II: Flesh & Blood.
I already blogged about the new Mexican wrestling game that will be introduced next month, my Game Stop sources tell me they will have free masks with their pre-orders, hopefully for you to receive before Halloween! That will suffice as my costume!
No, I am not the model for this cover!
