Except, by the time I found out about it, it was sold out. Luckily 2 of the organiztions I deal with blog wise, invited me to their “swag” suites and one group invited me to a meeting at the Colgate headquarters! (More about Colgate and their great products later.)
The conference was called “Blogher10.”
I believe it was the first time it was held in NYC.
Mostly women bloggers, some men were in attendance, and at least 1 gay guy, me!
I headed up early Friday to see BSM Media/Mom Select’s swag suite. They are the company that provided me with all the toys for the Kung Zhu party I threw awhile back. They are a great organization, hosting and producing events on-line via Twitter and in stores, like the Staples event I attended for “back to school.”
I am not a famous movie or TV star, but this is like the swag stories you read about where those celebs get to take a bag and fill it will stuff! I love that! It is like a big thank-you from the companies that you work with all year long and/or companies that want to continue to be promoted – I am happy to help!
One of the lovely ladies working at this event came up to me and told me I won a Golden Ticket! We all love those from having seen Willy Wonka, I was just happy to have a ticket to show my son who would get excited! (What a great group of folks at Mom Select and BSM Media, I am grateful for the opportunity they gave me!)
The ticket entitled me to be an audience member for the Toy Guys show produced at the Moms Select event (http://www.timetoplaymag.com/video/125/buzz-lightyear-deluxe-action-wing-pack/), and that’s where I also met John Tartaglia (see yesterdays post). The toy guys are hysterical, it was a very fun time. And there was a swag bag for that as well! My neighbor’s daughters were very happy with the surprises from that!
The it was on to the Blog Spark swag suite across the street at the actual conference venue at the New York Hilton. They forced me to try all different food items! Not a problem, I love to eat!
OK. Now I know the conference is not about swag, so I will tell you that I met some great people, made some awesome contacts, and had a friend tweet to me that he mentioned me as a coupon guy to CBS! I reinforced my association with a strong marketing company, and again, made some great contacts to help me strengthen my blog in the coming months. What a great opportunity, now I have to figure out how to get my family to next years conference in San Diego as a full attendee!
Thanks Blogher10!
